Civil Liberties
.... the years given new interpretations to old documents based on changes in society. After giving much thought, I have determined that based on current ideology regarding the poor, the State must provide assistance to those who do not have enough money for a required transcript. Over the past century, our government has created programs that provide benefits such as food stamps and welfare for those unable to pay on their own for food and basic needs. Justice Warren ruled in Brown v. Board of Education that the since the states have taken upon themselves the responsibility of educating all its children, it can not deny a child th .....

Welfare: Not A Way Of Life
.... to decide when individual recipients are ready for work and should be cut off from assistance. Those responsibilities are falling to welfare caseworkers, who in the past did little more than hand over checks.
The old system was often criticized for granting benefits to people who didn’t deserve them and should be working. The new system creates the distinct possibility that people who do deserve assistance will be denied. Since most public assistance goes to families, many of the victims would inevitably be children. Standardization, for all its drawbacks, also ensured a certain kind of blind fairness (Froomkin, Dan). In th .....

Music Censorship
.... is for songs like Ice-T’s Cop Killer, which is supposed to be the reason kids kill cops. Although, the Arts Censorship Project says, “ no direct link between anti-social behavior and exposure to the contents of any form of artistic expression has ever been scientifically established”. Kids can learn about drugs, violence, sex, etc.… through many sources.
We have the first amendment to help protect censorship of music, but to offer even more help to people not buy music with unsuitable lyrics the music industries offers “Parental Advisory” stickers on all CDs which contain lyrics about drugs, violence, sex, etc.… This sticker do .....

My Belief About Gay And Lesbian Families
.... like non-gays, are often inclined toward parenthood. Don Clark, a gay father and clinical psychologist, assessed the relationships between sexual orientation and fathers’ childbearing attitudes and behaviors. He also explored fathers’ self-assessment of their performance of the paternal role. Also data from Eversoll Father Role Opinionnaire, the Kinsey Scale, the Father/Son/Daughter Practice Report, and a demographic questionnaire shows that most gay fathers have a positive relationship with their children (Clark 95).
Research on lesbian mothers also reveals they establish healthy home lives for their children. Mandel and .....

The Popularity Of Tattooing
.... the United States tattooing in Tonga was long and painful. This took a long, long time and was a symbol of someone’s manhood.
In the article a man of Tongan and Hawaiian roots named Aisea Toetuu was interviewed. Tracy Allen, the author of this asked him many questions of his hobby, which was tattooing. When asked about how he became interested in the art of tattooing the Tongan way Aisea said that it was because of a book he had seen and because he other Americanized Tongans get tattoos (but not like ancient Tongans). Divorce And Preschool Children
.... with regression, anger, tantrums, aggression and anxiety. The Latency age group shows less impact although some symptoms are common such as anxiety and depression. Finally, the adolescence age showed symptoms such as trouble with the law, drugs, sexual acting out and running away. (Hodges and Bloom, 1984)
Because my interest is in the early years of child development I focused mainly on the preschool age children. Hodges and Bloom define this preschool focus as the age period to be between 18 months and 6 years. (1984) Out of these three-age periods the psychoanalytic theory has suggested that the preschool period is parti .....

Curfews
.... “My kids are home-schooled,” complains mother Tiana Hutchinson, “I shouldn’t have to worry about them getting arrested every time I send them outside to play.” (“Do You Know Where Your Children Are?” 4).
Parents aren’t the only ones upset with this problem-causing ordinance. In 1995, the American Civil Liberties Union, acting on behalf of thousands of law-abiding youth in California, filed suit in Federal District Court to challenge the state’s juvenile curfew ordinance (“ACLU Challenges California’s Curfew Law” 1).
With all this dissension, it is hard to understand why curfew ordinances are in such abundance across the U .....

Social Deviance
.... Sociologists Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx, and Max Weber all studied social deviance from a macrolevel perspective.
Emile Durkheim uses the basis he believes is the basis of the social structure, collective consciousness. Collective Consciousness is the beliefs, values, and norms that members of a society hold in common. Durkheim believed that deviance was present in every society, and that it was an integral part of the social structure. According to Durkheim deviance helps societies maintain themselves by reconfirming the collective consciousness and the common basis of society. When society condemns one who does not conform to th .....

Women's Rights In Afghanistan, China And Iran
.... 10 percent of the worlds poor, despite international efforts to compensate women and men equally in the workplace (Bender 69). While women made up about 32 percent of the worlds labor force in 1990, the percentage of women in positions to make important decisions was far lower (Bender 69). In the mid-1990’s, women held only 8 percent of top managerial positions in the U.S. corporations (Bender 69). Women comprised only 1 percent of executives in the 1000 largest corporations outside the United States (Bender 69).
Women remain at a distinct disadvantage in education as well. While primary school enrollment for girls now roughly .....

Friendship
.... country peacefully. That is what democracy is based on a country for the people and by the people. These people have the right to try and change things in a peaceful manner. That is how far I would go to stop a friend from harming my country.
How far would I go to obtain revenge on someone or some group who destroyed my best friend? Once again, it depends on your definition of destroyed. If you are referring to destroyed as in lethal means I would devote all my time and energy to bring them to justice. Seeing them convicted in a court of law would be my revenge. Now if destroyed means to ruin his reputation or to embarra .....

Slavery And Reparation Due
.... human. Black slaves built America with bare hands, blood, sweat and tears. As such, Slaves Descendant should be compensated for our Ancestors over 440 years of labor without pay.
Will Slaves Descendant ever be compensated with reparation for all that our Ancestors have been through? My Ancestors suffered as slaves under the Constitution and laws of the United States until 1865. In fact, some would say that Slaves Descendant still suffer today!
In 1867, Thaddeus Stevens of Pennsylvania presented before Congress, the “REPARATIONS BILL FOR THE AFRICAN SLAVES IN THE UNITED STATES.” SEC. 4. … shall have distributed to them as fo .....
