Serial Killers In The U.S
.... in
the wrong place at the wrong time.
Serial killers are a totally different and more dangerous threat to society.
They may not kill many people at one time, but they may kill for many years
without being detected. They are able to kill again and again without being
caught because they are careful in their choices of victims. They typically pick
victims who are vulnerable and un-able to defend themselves such as children,
the elderly or women. They also pick victims who will not be missed by society,
such as migrant workers, prostitutes, hitchhikers or homosexuals. They may even
pick victims based on specifics such as physic .....

The Death Penalty: A Necessary Evil
.... get what we deserve.
One argument against the death penalty is that the bible tells us not to
murder. If this includes all people it should include the government. However,
the death penalty is not quite the same as murder. It is an exacting of justice.
Consequently, the Bible also says, Ran eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.S
It could also say a life for a life as well. The government also has rights
that we as citizens do not have. As Mayor Ed Koch says in his essay on the
death penalty, Rthe execution of a lawfully condemned killer is no more an act
of murder than is legal imprisonment an act of kidnapping.S(Koc .....

Favre states, “I went to Topeka, because the pills had gotten the best of me”

he going to die?” (qtd. in Plummer 129). He not only scared himself but his
family as well. Favre not has to submit up to ten urine tests a month. His
losses were internal as well. “It is kind of embarrassing,” says Favre; “I
will do whatever it takes” (qtd. in Plummer 133). He spent several weeks in
rehabilitation but was not be fined or suspended. If caught agai .....

Date Rape
.... and
"what you say goes" (Shuker-Haines and Stark 23) . This shouldn't be going on
in our society...not with the advancements we have made in our country.
It is sometimes said that the woman who was the victim of rape shared fault for
the rape for wearing a skirt too short, or maybe if she stops over at his house.
It shouldn't matter what women wear, or where they are. If a woman says no to
sexual activity, then everything should stop. There are also ways that men
"mis-interperate" things women say. For instance, when women say "no", they
mean "not yet...keep trying", or men think it is okay to be rough, as long as
there is no .....

Rape
.... easy targets for rape. Victim
control teaches women to avoid rape, but doesn't reduce the threat of rape.
Furthermore, rape cannot always be avoided, no matter what precautions the woman
takes. It also puts part of the responsibility and blame for rape on the victim.
Rapist control confuses prosecutions with prevention. There is little evidence
that punishment serves as a deterrent. Besides, very few rapist are ever
incarcerated.
From very early ages, men and women are conditioned to accept different
roles. Women are raised to be passive and men are raised to be aggressive. We
are conditioned to accept certain attitudes, va .....

Argument For Keeping Repeat Offenders In Jail
.... sentence is seven years and eleven
months, but the actual average time served is two years and eleven months. I
think there are better ways to save money. For example, we should cut back on
the funding of foreign governments. We have plenty of our own problems in the
United States that we need to take care of. We should take care of our own
before we try to help others. The money we would save would not affect us
directly either. The money the government would save would not reduce our taxes
or anything like that, they would take the money and invest it in something else
important, like maybe giving themselves a raise. How .....

Illegal Drugs
.... more cops
and prisons more hospitols and treatment centers and many lives lost.
But drug users hurt themselves more than anybody because they are
supporting violent crimes in the drug world.
Just by using drugs they become part of that drug world. They are
already commiting acrime. But the relationship between drug use and crime often
means that drug users go on to commit crimes like robbery, burglary, assult, and
murder.
Drug addiction means that the brain is saying I need drugs now it must
have drugs. This offten means that addicts commit crimes to get money for
drugs.Studies show that drug use increases criminal behavior:

Capital Punishment Should Be Abolished
.... electric chair and hanging, are also quite cruel to the convicted. That is
one of the reasons the death penalty should be abolished.
Does the death penalty really deter criminals?
There is very little valid evidence to suggest that capital punishment
deters criminals. The most recent study of research findings on the relationship
between the death penalty and homicide rates, conducted for the United Nations
Committee on Crime Prevention and Control, in 1988, has concluded that:"this
research has failed to provide scientific proof that executions have a greater
deterrent effect than life imprisonment."1. Many murders are com .....

The Two Different Cases Regarding Capital Punishment
.... of others, especially if this is done persistently as a
habit must pay the ultimate price. This must be done for the sake of the
community which was violated. We can debate whether some non-lethal alternative
is a suitable substitute for the death penalty. But the standard of judgment is
whether the punishment fits the crime and if it honors the nature of the moral
community.

The Need For Capital Punishment

around the room, as you are lead to another room close by, the execution room.
A few prison officials are present to witness your execution. In a matter of
moments it's over.
You could have been Gary Gilmore, Ted Bundy or Charles Brooks, all

Capital Punishment: The Legal Punishment Of A Criminal
.... one thousand people a year
were faced with the sentence of death.
Now at modern time, the death penalty, has been rekindled. Although,
it is not as barbaric as it was. Now the law only allows itself the use
certain types of “disciplining”. In the early 18th and 19th century the death
penalty was inflicted in many ways. Some ways were, crucifixion, boiling in oil,
drawing and quartering, impalement, beheading, burning alive, crushing, tearing
asunder, stoning and drowning. In the late 19th century the types of
punishments were limited and only a few of them remained permissible by law.
In the 19th century capital punishmen .....

The Debate Over Capital Punishment
.... to
1st-Degree Murder, never take into account the consequences of their actions.
Deterrence to crime, is rooted in the individuals themselves. Every human has a
personal set of conduct. How much they will and will not tolerate. How far they
will and will not go. This personal set of conduct can be made or be broken by
friends, influences, family, home, life, etc. An individual who is never taught
some sort of restraint as a child, will probably never understand any limit as
to what they can do, until they have learned it themselves. Therefore, capital
punishment will never truly work as a deterrent, because of human nature to
