The Death Penalty: To Be Or Not To Be...
.... an important role in raising the
public's awareness of lawlessness, crime in America is far from a media -
created phenomenon. Government statistics support the image of a nation
which has overwhelmingly lost the war against crime. For instance, in 1960
there were 161 reported violent crimes per 100,000 people By 1992, the
figure had jumped to 758 per 100,000 -- a rise of over 350 %.
More and more people today are starting to think that something is
terribly wrong when a modern, civilized nation must confront statistics
like these. The American public is demanding an end to this violence, and
surveys show that they belie .....

Drink Up - Drunk Driving Should Be Legalized
.... vehicle. This requires them to hang around where
they are and get a ride with someone else or wait or some public
transportation. With the legalization of driving while drunk the non-
drinking population would not need to be bothered by drunk people that do
not have rides. Finally, this would help stimulate the economy which may
be in dire trouble. For example, with the removal of restrictions on
alcohol, many more alcoholic beverages would be sold because a new group of
possible customers would be open to this industry. Also, if drunks could
drive themselves home there would be less need of people going to a party
to tak .....

Gun Control
.... states that The
Second Amendment was never intended as a gun license for the entire
American populace. As originally drafted—and as consistently interpreted by
the courts for more than a century—the Amendment does not grant any blanket
right to own a gun nor does it stand in the way of rational, effective gun
control. They also say that the idea of gun ownership as an American
Birthright is just a myth. However, this is not true. The amendment
states that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Clearly stated,
this says that the right of people to have and use guns shall not be taken
away.

New Gun Control Policy Is Needed
.... that all persons possessing guns must have a license to
do so, even in their homes. Some states don't ban guns from addicts. This
is a problem. Gun concelation isn't the same in each state. Also it is
commonly unlawful to fire a gun within city limits or in other congested
urban areas. These are some of the common laws that most states have.
Guns are a form of power. Many individuals, ‘including criminals'
feel powerful when carrying a gun. Half of the households in the United
States possess a gun. Criminals use guns for satisfaction. For example, to
obtain sexual gratifaction in a rape or money in a robbery, or more
frequently, .....

Inform About Sex Offenders: Yes Or No?
.... got out of prison, so they must
have committed some sort of bad crime. Nowadays it is hard to actually go
to prison unless you commit such a bad crime as murder or rape-murder. If
the Mrs. Kanka had warned her children about that place this might not have
ever happened. Also why give a person who might actually be rehabilitated
any more problems than they will already have when they are released. The
more problems that they are given the more apt they are to go back to their
old ways. One last question, Just off the top of my head. How in the hell
did Jesse get Megan into the half way house when it is being "closely

Juvenile Delinquency
.... ignore many children
who are accused of minor delinquencies or refer them directly to their
parents. But in other communities, the police may refer such children to a
juvenile court, where they may officially be declared delinquents. Crime
statistics, though they are often incomplete and may be misleading, do give
an indication of the extent of the delinquency problem.
The FBI reports that during the early 1980's, about two-fifths of
all arrests in the United States for burglary and arson were of persons
under the age of 18. Juveniles also accounted for about one-third of all
arrests for larceny. During any year, ab .....

a bad accent. You've probably also taken an extensive trip once or twice
along a barren interstate. But before leaving, you want to make sure your
family doesn't starve on the journey. So you drive through at McDonalds,
and order 2 big macs with cheese, 2 quarter pounders with cheese, 2
cheeseburgers with cheese, a couple large cokes, and a happy meal for the
little ones. Half-way to nowhere, you are being consumed with a primal urge
to eat. And to your chagrin, you open the bag, and stare with incredulity

Letter Regarding Young Offenders And Threat Of Public Exposure
.... are the key to reforming youngsters' behaviour. And that has to be
done before they grow up, because there will be no conrolling them then.So
no more anonymity, and no more "Blitz Boy" kind of nicknames which only
glorify the young troublemakers and make them look like heroes, but full
publication of offenders' genuine name. And we'll then see how many will
dare doing something that will result in that. Because a thing like that
not only humiliates the offender, but also destroyes his future, and
eliminates his chances of finding a proper job.
Yours faithfully

Drugs In Sports
.... funding for such testing.
This is a controversial issue. The IOC believes that each of the
international federations which governs particular sports should be
responsible for its own testing.
This seems reasonable enough, but it is argued that the Olympic Games are
the highest profile competition in the world and the most prestigious. The
world stops to watch them and they represent the culmination of years of
work for athletes. Winning a gold medal is the glory to any sporting career.
Urine testing is the usual testing method, and it doesn't reveal the full
range of drugs taken to enhance performance. Blood testing is a .....

Should Handguns Be Legal To All
.... Anti-gun
users feel that if handguns are illegal it may not be impossible for
criminals to obtain them but it would be much more difficult. If that were
true some believe there will be a drastic decrease in gang violence and
armed robbery.
The ultimate argument pro-gun users have is the second amendment
which states an individuals right to keep and bear arms. They feel it is
there right to be able to own a gun to protect themselves from those who
want to cause harm. If guns were outlawed and criminals were still finding
a way to access a gun the common citizen would be helpless against them.
Pro-gunners are aware of the many .....

Teen Violence And Its Causes
.... up, so does the crime rate. Couples today have forgotten
the word commitment. As a result of this, the children suffer. It is hard
to grow up with separated parents. Most children become bitter or angry as
they grow because of their divorced parents. In some cases the parents
fight or argue which can affect a child, and may adapt the child to be more
aggressive. Also, when raising a child in a divorced atmosphere, what kind
of lesson is he/she learning? They will learn that a commitment is not a
serious thing. That can affect them when they go for a job, or get married.
Since parents become role models to their children, t .....
