Is Mesopotamia A Civilization?
.... bring rain, floods or misfortune to a business or illness to a family. The people were the marionettes of the gods. The Mesopotamian created a strong mythology to explain their gods’ relationship to earth. The Mesopotamian also believed in afterlife. They believed that when they died, they would enter a dark underworld that was a land of no return. Some believed it to be a place where the dead would live forever, alone and in darkness. When the king died, the people’s fear of death rose because it was a bad omen to the future of the country. The fear of death and the afterlife was explained in many legends of their time. .....

Fiji
.... pottery style in all of the islands of the Pacific east of New Guinea was followed by the appearance of this pottery in Fiji. This leads them to believe that the people migrated to Fiji (People and History, no pg. #).
Captain William Bligh received major credit for discovering and recording the Fiji islands. He sailed through Fiji after the mutiny on the Bounty in 1789. Shipwrecked sailors and runaway convicts from the Austrailian penal settlements were the first Europeans to live with the Fijians. By the mid nineteenth century missonaries and sandalwood traders had also settled there. Cannibalism quickly disappeared as the miss .....

Eritrea & Ethiopia
.... Ethiopians have been moved from their home due to fighting and bombings along the six hundred twenty mile border. Etiopean bombs have taken over seventy lives in Eritrea.
It is unknown who is at fault for this ugly dispute. The Eritreans are blaming the Ethiopians for certain troubles and the Ethiopians are blaming the Eritreans and denying the accusations.
The ending of this war does not seem to be coming that soon. Etiopia continues to bomb the weaker country, just as recently as May 16th bombed the major port city of Masawa and just a day prior to that on May 15th, the Ethiopians bombed a Eritrea frontline. Thousa .....

Vienna Vs. Virginia
.... even though English was made from mostly German. American’s have over 900,000 words to choose from. A great many more that the 500,000 the Germans have. The chief reason form this is because where English made a new word, German speaking peoples have just combined two. Map and Landcarte for example.
The transit systems are the most different of the three. Vienna has over 80 busses, 40 Strassenbahns (street cars), 6 U-Bahns (under ground trains and 8 Schellbahns (fast trains that circle the city). It’s the second transit system in the world, next to Japan’s. VA’s TRT (tidewater regional transit) isn’t even ranked. With only 20 bu .....

Africa
.... doctors and lack of doctors people have some health problems. Some of the resources Africa does have though are aluminum, asbestos, chromium, coal, cobalt, copper, diamonds, gold, graphite, iron ore, lead, mica, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, natural gas, oil, salt, sulphur, tungsten, unranium, vanadium, and zinc. There are many land resources but not many industries or people to take machines and dig for them. I thought Africa to be a interesting but needful continent. It needs more people to build and help the people live in peace and live prosporous. I learned that not everyone lives as well as we do and we should not take for .....

Chico And The Growth Issue
.... place to live. That is the side we need to put forward. We have a large community that feels like a small town, but that will not stay, much as we may like it. It is also not conducive to growth or industry. We must remind ourselves that Chico is truly a small city, and not a large town. As a city we can not continue to function economically without jobs. Chico, besides the fast food, and other low wage jobs, has no significant job market.
We have an over abundance of retail, certainly enough restaurants, a lot of medical, and many services, but none of these provide the jobs for the average working people that would give t .....

Thailand: My Perspective
.... folk (which they often are), they are also very strong-minded and have struggled for centuries to preserve their spirit of independence.
Thailand's two coastlines and countless islands attract schools of water babies. Diving and snorkeling are-particularly popular in Phuket. The islands of Chumphon Province, just north of Surat Thani are less developed and the reefs here are practically undisturbed. Touring the islands and coastal limestone formations around Phuket and Ao Phang-Nga by inflatable canoe are always an ever-increasingly popular activity. The typical sea-canoe tour seeks out half-submerged caves, timing .....
