The Dome Of The Rock In Jerusalem
.... dome is set upon a drum, which, in turn, rests upon the basic octagon that represents the earth, like a perfect crystal. The original facing consisted of glass mosaics, magnifying the beauty of the earth created by God, but the porcelain of the present-day dome, with its dominant blues, growing denser and darker as it descends from the drum to ground level, doubtless recalls the transition, almost dematerialized and transparent, from the crown in the sky formed by the drum to the walls of the basic octagon. The delicate lacework of the azure tiles in the gilded areas becomes less and less frequent as one descends from the dru .....

China
.... rural workers. The natural consequences was for the city people to arrange themselves an average income level twice as high as that of the people in the countryside.
The most obvious way to attack this poverty problem was to increase production, in all sectors of the economy. Though the easiest way to increase production was to increase capital inputs, China could only afford a limited amount of capital construction. In accordance to this, China went on a construction binge. Whole factories were purchased from abroad while others were built with local resources. By 1978, the frenzy for new projects reached a level that rem .....

Sparta
.... it was so intense. In the end, Sparta and Corinth won the war. Sparta surrounded the city-state of Athens and a plague broke out. It spread like wildfire and killed Pericles, an Athenian leader, as one of its first victims. It was a shallow victory for the Spartans however, because Greece had been fighting within itself. The downfall of Athens led to the weakness of all Greece.
The Spartan religion was that of all the other city-states of Greece. They were polytheistic and had twelve major gods. They believed the gods dictated their daily lives and the gods protected them. Sacrifices and offerings were made with prayer to ap .....

Australia's Future
.... continent is a group of islands that are burgeoning with humanity. Our neighbours are very different to ourselves in race, creed and religion. Their booming economy is dominated by a military regime that grows stronger as the nation grows richer. Their actions over East Timor show a ruthless expansionist policy. Indonesia is a nation with a desperate shortage of space, which must regard our empty country with some envy. An attitude that poses a threat to the tenure of our lands, if not our lives, and makes questions of our choice of constitution both an irrelevant and a dangerous diversion.
Even if our place in the wor .....
