The Aztec Indians
.... bridges were built, and chinapas were made. Chinapas were little islands formed by pilled up mud. On these chinapas Aztecs grew corn, beans, chili peppers, squash, tomatoes, and tobacco. Tenochtitlan (the capital city) was covered in giant religious statues in order to pay their respects to the gods. In the Aztec religion numerous gods controlled an Aztec’s daily life. Some of these gods include: Uitzilpochtli (the sun god), Coyolxauhqui (the moon goddess), Tlaloc (the rain god), and Quetzalcoatl (the inventor of the calendar and writing). Another part of the Aztec religion was human sacrifices. For .....

Did Napoleon Preserve Or Pervert The Gains Of The Revolution
.... the state above the Church, an extremely revolutionary concept. The Revolution even went as far to ban organized religion. Napoleon was willing to heal the rift between the Catholic Church and the government, but only if the Church did not meddle in state affairs. The Church lost its right to run schools, and to have special taxes and privileges, however Napoleon did re-open the churches and was tolerant of all religions. He even invited the Pope Pius VII to his coronation to crown him the new Emperor of France. Napoleon's true feelings on his relationship with the Church were demonstrated by his actions at the coronation. Wh .....

The Influence Of The Renaissance On European Gender Relationships
.... architecture, music, and dance. This education was for the sole purpose of making women a toy for the entertainment of men.
In physical appearance, women were to be everything that a man was not. They were to be soft and tender, rather that solid and sturdy. In public a man should make his presence known, whereas a woman should be passive and try not to draw attention to herself. For women, beauty was seen as the most important feature. This goes on to show how women were simply objects of affection for fulfilling the pleasures of men.
Many humanists viewed women with distrust, and saw them as the reincarnate of Eve .....

The Nuremberg Trials
.... International Military Tribunal (IMT), it had 8 judges, one judge and one alternate. This was made so that they would try to stop the Nazi crimes (Rice Jr. 81). They had supplementary Nuremberg hearings that were broken down into twelve trials. In connection with these trials, the U.S. military tribunals had thirty-five defendants and released nineteen of them because they could find anything to get them on (Rice Jr. 76). They made Nuremberg Laws because of Hitler’s concentration camps and his other inhuman acts (Rice Jr. 31). He didn’t go by the lead system, he made himself the Supreme Judge. Hitler could imprison or execute an .....

Atomic Bomb
.... any kind of weapon they could get their hands on. It is true that this could mean a Japanese citizen could have anything from a gun to a spear, but many unsuspecting soldiers might have fallen victim to a surprise spear attack! The number of deaths that would have occurred would have been much greater, and an invasion would have taken a much longer period of time. The Japanese would have continued to fight the US with all of what they had; spears, guns, knives, whatever they could get their hands on, just as long as they continued to fight the enemy.
As mentioned before, it is a fact that some civilians had been ready t .....

The Situation In Kosovo
.... Aren’t they just as important as the students at Columbine High? I would certainly say they are!
I think that it is noble, perhaps, to be concerned about a school shooting. It is something that has deeply affected a part of our country. However, this is a situation that will be investigated and put behind us. It is important, but again, what about Kosovo? What happens in Kosovo affects us as a whole, and has the potential to change our lives forever. There are speculations that this could be the beginning of World War 3. How do you feel about that? Are you concerned in the least that even tomorrow your brothers, sis .....

The Aztecs
.... and modern archaeology continue to reveal, beyond the violence of their conquests and many of their religious practices, there were more positive achievements: the formation of a highly specialized and stratified society and an imperial administration; the expansion of a trading network as well as a tribute system; the development and maintenance of a sophisticated agricultural economy, carefully adjusted to the land; and the cultivation of an intellectual and religious outlook that held society to be an integral part of the cosmos. The yearly round of rites and ceremonies in the cities of Tenochtitlan and neighboring Tetzcoco, and .....

So with his slogan of "Bread, Peace and Land", Lenin gained the support of the peasants and gained control of Russia and setup a communist state.

.... in line at bank queues and watch all they have spent their lives building up disappearing before their eyes. That is the Yeltsin legacy.
Russia: A flea market economy
Presidents Clinton and Yeltsin seemed to be talking about a different world when they repeated their shared determination to pursue the free market.
Free market? What free market? There is no effective free market in Russia. It has been hijacked and hijacked by President Yeltsin's own allies and supporters. The billionaire tycoons known in Russia as the Oligarchs do not want a free market, that is why they backed his campaign in 1996 and put him back in t .....

Stereotypical Civilization
.... of their having no basis in reality, all preconceptions are wrong. As Marlow can surely attest, having a slanted conception disproved can be a hard truth to accept. Marlow goes into the darkness of Africa with the belief that the natives are savages, but seeing the starving natives chained to trees forces him to discard his idea that they are savages. He actually feeds one of the slaves. He constantly marvels at their restraint, which went against the stories he had heard in Europe. At certain points he even seems to realize that his own men show little restraint because of their greed and prejudices.
Africa is more c .....

The Archaeological Sites In The Aegean
.... history could only be traced back to 776BC ( the first day of the Olympics.) In this we also found that "To understand ancient Greece, you have to understand the regional perspective, to the east are Egypt, Syria, Palestine, the lands of Asia Minor, and the Mesopotamia valley." These areas do give us a understanding and show us the definite impact on Greece and the Aegean, but how much? That’s a questions that today historians haven’t quite figured out yet. This source also says that Schliemann, who believed that Homer was describing a real civilization. Schliemann found eight layers of Strata of the same city. He believed the T .....
