Evaluating An Enthalpy Change That Cannot Be Measured Directly.
.... was then added to the solution, and
the final temperature was recorded.
The contents of the cup were then emptied out and the cup was washed out with
water and then thoroughly dried. This was done three times for the sodium
hydrogen carbonate so that I could remove any anomalies that were obtained.
The experiment was then repeated in exactly the same manner except sodium
carbonate was used instead of sodium hydrogen carbonate.
The results were then tabulated, this table is shown below.

Expansion On The Recent Discoveries Concerning Nitric Oxide
.... many
functions within the body. Nitric oxide enables white blood cells to kill tumor
cells and bacteria, and it allows neurotransmitters to dilate blood vessels. It
also serves as a messenger for neurons, like a neurotransmitter. The compound
is also accountable for penile erections. Further experiments may lead to its
use in memory research and for the treatment of certain neurodegenerative
disorders. One of the most exciting discoveries of nitric oxide involves its
function in the brain. It was first discovered that nitric oxide played a role
in the nervous system in 1982. Small amounts of it prove useful in the opening

Frank J. Horgan Filtration Plant
.... between 1980 and 1995 because of
the extreme pressure and Wight of the water. these incidents cause a shutdown of
the plant until they could repair it.
Production
The Frank J. Horgan Filtration Plant needs only one row materials to
operate, which is water. The plant is right next to lake Ontario, collecting
water to purify. The water enters the plant by means of two 114 and four 182
million litres per day pumps, sum 18 meters below sea level and 2960 meters off
the shore. Since the pressure of the water at that depth is so strong, there is
no need for any mechanical pumps. They just let pressure and suction to do the
job. Th .....

Fission Or Fusion
.... This fact is the basis for the design of practical energy-producing
fission reactors.
In December 1942 at the University of Chicago, the Italian physicist
Enrico Fermi succeeded in producing the first nuclear chain reaction. This was
done with an arrangement of natural uranium lumps distributed within a large
stack of pure graphite, a form of carbon. In Fermi's "pile," or nuclear reactor,
the graphite moderator served to slow the neutrons.
Nuclear fusion was first achieved on earth in the early 1930s by
bombarding a target containing deuterium, the mass-2 isotope of hydrogen, with
high-energy deuterons in a cyclotron. To accelera .....

Crash Course In Density
.... a race track, complete with race cars, fences,
and spectators. The 767 crash landed, and, fortunately, no one was killed.
Their were many contributing factors that made this plane run out of
fuel. First of all, the computerized fuel gauge was not working, and a
maintenance worker said , incorrectly, that the plane was still certified to fly.
To measure the amount of fuel remaining, they use a drip stick method. They
discovered that their was 7 682 liters in the tank. However, they had always
measured fuel in the past as pound, while the 767 consumed fuel in kilograms.
The drip sticks did not express the amount of fuel in p .....

it would reduce tooth decay, however there were two major obstacles in his path,
The American Medical Association, and The American Dental Association. Both
associations wrote articles in their journals about the dangers of fluoridation
of water supplies. The American Dental Association wrote the following in the
October 1, 1944 issue: “We do know the use of drinking water containing as
little as 1.2 to 3.0 parts per million of fluorine will cause such developmental
disturbances in bones as osteoslcerosis, spondylosis and osteoperosis, as well
as goiter, and we cannot afford to run the risk of producing such serious

Fossil Fuels: Our Society's Dependency
.... back of this way of solving problems, I mean sure it's great
to wait until the demand but we should still learn from our mistakes. We should
learn to plan ahead and see what the consequences could possibly be.
We still have other demands to meet, there are three major demands of
fossil fuels and they are heating, transportation, and industry. Although
transportation is taken care of, we may not like the thought of a solar car or
an electric car but there are solutions out there. Frankly the oil companies
don't want to lose their monopoly in the transportation industry and that brings
us into the whole economy issue. If we .....

Gallium
.... with a knife, gallium takes on a
bluish tinge because of superficial oxidation. Unusual for its low melting
point ( about 30 degrees C, 86 degrees F ), gallium also expands upon
solidification and supercools readily, remaining a liquid at temperatures as
low as 0 degrees C ( 32 degrees F ).
Gallium has the longest usefull liquid range of any element. The liquid
metal clings to glass and similar surfaces. The crystal structure of gallium
is orthorhombic. Natural gallium consists of a mixture of two stable isotopes:
gallium-69 ( 60.4 percent ) and gallium-71 (39.6 percent ).
Somewhat similar to aluminum chemically, gallium slo .....

Is Science Necessary For Our Future?
.... of
Frankenstein's immorality was death for just about everyone he loved and
utter despair for himself. The monster was not necessary for our future
and neither were the methods of his creation. Because of the doctor's
irresponsibility, he lost everything including his life.
The monster, spawned by the immoral science of Frankenstein, was
witness to another way of life other than the one of Dr. Frankenstein. The
monster, over a period of several months, witnessed a family of cottagers.

their feelings were serine and peaceful"

Geothermal Energy
.... core in the middle. As time went on the accumulation elements with
similar physical properties into hot bodies caused a slow formation of a
crystalline barrier around the denser core. Hot bodies consisting of iron were
attracted to the core with greater force because they were more dense. These
hot bodies sunk into and became part of the constantly growing core. Less dense
elements were pushed towards the surface and began to form the crust. The early
crust or crystalline barrier consisted of ultra basic, basic, calc-alkaline, and
granite. The early crust was very thin because the core was extremely hot. It
is estimated tha .....
