Religion In Schools
.... still argue that
public prayer in school would violate the 1st amendment and make some
children feel uneasy or stressed. William Torrey Harris began his teaching
career in St. Louis as a private tutor. He later became a teacher and
administrator in the city’s public schools. In 1867 Harris became the
superintendent of the St. Louis public school system, where he enforced his
belief that the influences of religion and politics should be kept separate
from schools. He believed that secular, politically independent public
schools provided important safeguards in preserving the individual liberty
of students. In conclusion I believe .....

Religion: Jerusalem
.... Jews see as important to them
because it is a symbol of their freedom from slavery and the Covenant God
made with Moses, and allowed Jews to establish their promised land.
Jerusalem is considered by Jews as their holiest city. In 586 B.C.E., the
Babylonian, Nebuchadnezzar II destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple and
exiled the Jews to Babylonia. Fifty years later in 537 B.C.E., Cyrus the
Great of Persia conquered Babylonia and permitted the Jews to return to
Jerusalem and rebuild their Temple. ( Safdie, 1990, p.107)
Jerusalem is the holiest city for Jews because their Temple, their
place of worship was placed here until it was .....

Buddha
.... He then came upon a mendicant monk, calm and serene,
whereupon he determined to adopt his way of life and forsake family, wealth,
and power in the quest for truth. This decision, known in Buddhism as the
Great Renunciation, is celebrated by Buddhists as a turning point in
history. Gautama was then 29 years old, according to tradition.
Wandering as a mendicant over northern India, Buddha first
investigated Hinduism. He took instruction from some famous Brahman
teachers, but he found the Hindu caste system repellent and Hindu
asceticism futile. He continued his search, attracting but later losing
five followers because he was i .....

Taoism
.... is to achieve tao, to find the way. Tao is the
ultimate reality, a presence that existed before the universe was formed
and which continues to guide the world and everything in it. Tao is
sometimes identified as the Mother, or the source of all things. That
source is not a god or a supreme being as with Christians, for Taoism is
not monotheistic. The focus is not to worship one god, but instead on
coming into harmony with tao. Tao is the essence of everything that is
right, and complications exist only because people choose to complicate
their own lives. Desire, ambition, fame, and selfishness are seen as
hindrances to a har .....

Ezekial
.... The resurrection of the body at the great
day, especially the bodies of the believers to life eternal. [Wesley] As
Ezekial prophesied to the dead and dry bones, he heard a rattling of bones
in their motion. A shaking, trembling or commotion among the bones,
enough to manifest a divine presence, working among them. They came
nearer and nearer, till each bone met the bone to which it to be joined.
Of all the bones of all the numerous slain, not one was missing, not one
missed its way, not one missed its place, but each knew and found its
fellow. Thus is the resurrection of the dead, the scattered atoms shall be
arranged in their .....

The Existence Of God
.... (Malcolm)
3. Therefore the possibility of conceiving a being than which
nothing greater can be conceived entails the logical necessity of the real
existence of such a being. (Anselm)
4. Therefore to say that God does not exist is to contradict
oneself. (Malcolm and Descarte)
5. The concept of God though, is not self contradictory,
therefore Gods existence is logically true. (Malcolm)
6. In conclusion God DOES exist.
The objection to this argument can be that existence is not a
characteristic. Only to reply, yes but existence can be a characteristic
of concepts. Since God is “logically necessary” couldn’ .....

The Opening Of The Crusades: Pope Urban II
.... in words something like the following saying: "Oh,
race of Franks, race from across the mountains, race beloved and chosen by
God, as is clear from many of your works, set apart from all other nations
by the situation of your country as well as by your Catholic faith and the
honor which you render to the holy Church: to you our discourse is
addressed, and for you our exhortations are intended. We wish you to know
what a grievous cause has led us to your country, for it is the imminent
peril threatening you and all the faithful which has brought us hither.
"From the conflnes of Jerusalem and from the city of Constantinople a

Genesis 1:1-30
.... used these to mark the
fixed time, days, and years. God saw the goodness, and the fourth day
ended with night, which was followed by morning.
In verses twenty through twenty-three, the creation of creatures
that live in the sea, and winged animals were formed. He blessed these
creatures and made them fertile, he saw the goodness. The fifth day ended
with the night, which was followed by morning.
In verses twenty-four through thirty-one the creation of animals
such as cattle, creeping things, and wild animals of all kind were formed.
It also explains the creation of man, which he made dominant over all
living things. He made .....

Christianity
.... resurrection of the saints,
Matthew is the only person to mention this occurence in the Bible. Surely
other first-century Christians would have used this as further proof of
Jesus' divinty. It would fall to reason that Paul and the gospels would
have mentioned it. This is not, however, the case. Nowhere else in the
Bible is this mentioned or even hinted at. These events are then, at best,
highly unlikely to have occured. The fact that Matthew is alone in writing
of the resurrection of the saints leads us to believe that certain writers
of the Bible had differing views on christianity.
The christian Bible is highly contradictory, .....

Buddhism
.... is the oldest form of Buddism. And is to this day
practiced by many Buddist monks. Mahayana is a popular form of Buddism in

The Roots Of Western Civilization
.... spent long hours and put forth much effort in their attempt to
spread Christianity. This would take a while because of the broad size of
the Roman Empire and the so little few of the missionaries. However, there
were many conversions to Christianity within short period so this religion
dominated.
In the Western Civilization Society, the Hebrews were a culture
that kept their maintenance in effect. In the Book of Exodus, Yahweh chose
Moses to guide the slaved people in Egypt to Palestine. Yahweh destroyed
the pursuing Egyptian army, a sign of his great presence. Moses was also
given the Ten Commandments and othe .....
