Hamlet: Shakespeare Tragic Hero
.... example of Shakespearean tragedy
is because it incorporates the idea of catharsis. Aristotle defined
catharsis as the purging of the emotions of fear and pity. In the play,
Claudius has the emotion of fear because he is afraid of Hamlet knowing
that he killed his father. Claudius knows that Hamlet is capable of
killing him. He knows that he cannot kill Hamlet to protect himself or to
prevent the people from knowing who killed the king because the people love
Hamlet too much. Claudius feels pity after he sees the "Mouse Trap"
because he realizes what he had done was wrong now that Hamlet knows the
truth behind the matter. .....

The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar: Brutus
.... Caesar to rise to power and then turn his back onto the people of
Rome. After the assassination of Julius Caesar, Brutus talks to Antony
about Caesar's death. "Our hearts you see not; they are pitiful; and pity
to the general wrong of Rome..."(act 3, scene 1, ll.185-186). Brutus says
that Antony cannot see their(members of the conspiracy) hearts, which are
full of pity. Again, this shows how Brutus loved Caesar but cared for the
life of Rome and its people more. This is the only reason Brutus would
conspire against Caesar. For Brutus says to himself, "I know no personal
cause to spurn at him...How that might change his nature..."( .....

Analysis Of The Movie Contact
.... that Sagan's book dealt with mainly because of the release date of
this movie. The movie was made well after the end of the Cold War and the
efforts to build a space pod for space travel is depicted as being an
international effort.
The feasibility of the events in Contact is not too far from
reality.
The movie makes the assumption that the alien civilization that contacted
us is far more advanced than humans. If contact was made today it could
only be achieved with the assistance of a civilization far more advanced
than our human race. Radio and television signals have been travelling in
space for over 60 years and .....

Macbeth: Guilty By His Actions Then Lady Macbeth Is By Hers
.... doing it. Lady Macbeth did a
little more than just talk about it though. She also urged Macbeth into
doing it and that is what makes her part of this crime, but she is not as
guilty as Macbeth. He really didn't have to listen to what his wife said.
Macbeth had a mind of his own and he could make his own decision. The
other murders that Macbeth was involved in were not committed by him, but
were ordered by him. The people who did the killing had no choice, they had
to do it, because they worked for Macbeth. Macbeth knew this and was a bit
more guilty in these murders then lady Macbeth was when she urged him.

Analysis Of A Cartoon Regarding The Vietnam War
.... troops. As the war went on and we continued to lose more and more
men, the American public wondered why we didn't just withdraw our men. The
American public saw this war going nowhere. An explanation given as to why
we were unable to withdraw our men was because we couldn't lose our honor.
The American government didn't want to lose any respect in this for many
different reasons. Nixon's goal was to compromise peace but still keep the
American honor. Another myth that came into this same scene was the saying
" Light at the End of the Tunnel". As time started to pass, the American
government started to feel that ho .....

The Odyssey: Character Study Of Athena
.... was indeed a goddess shows
that she wants to be praised by all and showing a slight immature and soft
side on her part.
This can also be interpreted as a good action in some cases. When
Telemakhos knows Athena, a goddess, is on his side, this gives him extra
confidence. She also shows a caring side when she turns into many different
figures to guide Odysseus through his journey. This shows determination on
her part, saying that she really wants Odysseus, a brave soldier who fought
for good in the Trojan War, to get home to his loving family. The way she
changes form to try and trick Odysseus from thinking that he was indeed

The Truth Of Suffering In King Lear
.... most honor you........
That lord whose hand must take my plight shall carry
Half my love with him, half my care and duty.
Sure I shall never marry like my sisters,
To love my father all. (1.1.105-15)
Cordelia's plight is only one of the many truths Lear is unable to see.
Since he is king, he is told only what he wants to hear, not necessarily
the truth. Slowly, as his other two daughters shun him, he suffers through
the storm, and is able to see. He is no longer writing his own truths. He
is forced to see and feel what many feel daily: rejection, deceit, pain,
etc. He slowly realizes Cordelia is his only truly lovi .....

A Doll's House: Nora
.... is in love
with me. He would never hesitate for a moment to sacrifice his life for my
sake.”
Later in the play Nora made the same mistake with Kristine Linde as
she did with Dr. Rank. In the following line Nora expresses her belief of
what Helmer may do: “Then you must testify... And I tell you this: nobody
else knew anything, I alone was responsible for the whole thing. Remember
that!”
These are two of the most important lines in the play because they
signify the whole relationship's meaning and underlying imagery. What Nora
thinks will happen when her husbands finds out is completely opposite of
what really happens.

A Character Analysis Of Macbeth In Shakespeare's Macbeth
.... for centuries to come the sergeant says: "Or
memorize another Golgotha," this tells us that Macbeth would have gone
down in the books as Scotland's heroic warrior. Macbeth had two glorious
battles both of which he had won. from these battles and the sergeants
words we can truly say that Macbeth was a great warrior.
Macbeth is also to be portrayed as an insane man, but I think that
this is not to be true. An insane man is supposed to be delirious, make no
sense what-so-ever, and to enjoy the killing and deaths of others. On the
contrary Macbeth is none of these, he in my opinion is a very sane man.

Macbeth: Theme Of Night Vs Day And Evilness
.... but he gets worse.
“Methought I heard a voice cry, ‘Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep'”
(II.ii.35-36). Macbeth's sleeplessness means the more sleep he loses, the
more he is exposed to night, which is evil.
The witches play a key role in turning Macbeth into the paranoid,
dangerous person that he his. They basically ignite the tragedy as well as
Macbeth's fate when they tell him he will be Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth was
not aware of the problems that the prophecy would soon create, nor was he
aware that it would bring him to his end. The witches themselves are a
symbol of evil. They're hideous, bearded beasts that are k .....

Hamlet: A Tragedy Of Failure
.... play within the play is useful because it allows Hamlet
to verify the validity of the ghost. Usually plays are intended for
entertainment purposes. The play is not real and the actors are playing a
role. In reality Hamlet makes it so that it is similar to what really
happened to his father. Hamlet even goes as far as to instruct the actors
appropriately. He will prove that the ghost is truthful by the reaction on
Claudius' face. The play appears to be harmless but it has a close parallel
to what really happened to the late King Hamlet.
Rosencrantz and Guildernstern, who are the king's spies, pretend to
be friends to Hamlet. T .....

Macbeth: The Three Witches
.... a sense
of what is to come or what exactly is going to happen to a character.
Foreshadowing can be easily detected or it cannot be noticed at all until
the end of the play or story. In Shakespeare's Macbeth, Shakespeare uses
the prophecies of the witches and thoughts of Macbeth himself to foreshadow
within the play. And Macbeth himself detects them somewhat as does the
audience.
In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the three witches as main sources
foreshadowing. In the play they are conveyed as prophecies. The audience
experiences a little of these prophecies almost immediately in the opening
scene and act of the play. When they t .....
