Fate And Prophecy In Oedipus Rex
.... from Corinth he runs into his real father and kills him and then defeats the Sphinx to become the new king of Thebes. After this first accusation the reader can see that not only is the king accused of murder but he has committed murder before. Oedipus unknowingly killed his own father but also married his mother. This trick of fate is indisputable when Jocasta tries to slight fate, “For God’s love let us have no more questioning! / Is your life nothing to you? / My own is pain enough for me to bear” (Sophocles 1045).
The Prophecy predicted was right on target the whole time. Although Oedipus tried to save his stepfather from th .....

Hamlet: Hamlet's Decisions And Actions
.... Hamlet, might be insane. There are many clues to suggest Hamlet is insane but in fact he is completely sane.
Throughout the play Hamlet makes wise decisions to prove he is not insane. He knows exactly what he is leading up to. He just delays to act due to his indecisiveness. An example of this is in Act III, section III, line 73, Hamlet says “Now might I do it pat, now ’a is a-praying, and now I’ll do it-and so ‘a goes to heaven, and so am I revenged that would be scanned. A villain kills my father, and for that, I, his sole son, do this same villain send to heaven. Why, this is hire and salary, not revenge.” He says he .....

Women In Macbeth
.... coming not only as an opportunity to murder Duncan, but also as a sign of fate. Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth that tonight he must act like "flower" but act like a quote "serpent under't". These small quotes show how scrupulous and cunning Lady Macbeth is. To further persuade him she tells him that if he follows her plan that he will have nothing less then the power of a king. Macbeth being lead by his wife like this gives me the view that Shakespeare wants us to sympathise with the character of Macbeth.
In scene 7 Macbeth after wrestling with his conscience .He confronts his wife and tells that "We will proceed no further .....

Oedipus Rex
.... take away his position of high authority. Oedipus displayed anger throughout the whole story, which did not help him at all. During the story, we learn of Oedipus’ anger as he knocked a passerby at the meeting of the three highways; “ I being enraged, strike him who jostled me…” (pg. 29). Later, this passerby whom he angrily and quickly killed, was revealed to be Laios, Oedipus’ father. Oedipus’ anger is also shown as he begins to insult Teiresias by calling him an old man; “Blind as you are in eyes, and ears, and mind!” (Pg. 14).
The final trait that was Oedipu’s greatest enemy throughout the play was his own truthfulness. .....

Thebes now had to endure a plague, and a prophet put the blame on a polluter of the land of Thebes. Oedipus called on Tiresias, and Tiresias clued him that the polluter was the king. As Oedipus searched further and further, he unearthed that he was the polluter Tiresius spoke of and that the prophecy had become reality. Hamlet's Odd Behavior
.... do not correspond with his given reasoning, one is forced to look for an alternate explanation for Hamlet’s behavior. In doing so, one will come to the conclusion that Hamlet is driven by forces other than what is obvious to the reader, as well as Hamlet himself. Given this example, one must denounce the assumption that Hamlet is aware of the forces that motivate him, and understand that Hamlet’s true motivation is unconscious This unconscious force is the true reason behind Hamlet’s mysterious behavior. In naming this force, one must look beneath the surface of Hamlet’s own level of consciousness, and into what Hamlet himself .....

Entertainment: The Limit
.... movies provides job security and keeps the unemployment line down.
On the other hand some may say that spending this type of money on a movie is insane. The money should be used to help society rather than cause violence (the belief that some movies lead to riots). Instead the money should be used to further research for life threatening diseases or to open a community center. The money should be used to improve education or to build better learning centers.
Movies can also be educational. Many famous plays and documentaries have been put on the big screen. Many of the American people don't participate in goi .....

Gulliver’s Travels: The Movie
.... any differences between the text and the film. I also found the film to be one of good quality. The sound, special effects and actors were all good, unlike most of the films that we have watched in this class before. I would recommend that someone should defiantly watch this film after reading this book to grasp a better meaning of the story. The visualization of the characters in the text found in the movie helps its audience grasp the full meaning of the story.
In conclusion I found this film to be very helpful in obtaining a full understanding of the story. I would recommend to anyone who has to read this story to wat .....

Oedipus Rex
.... about the fate of Oedipus.
The news from the messenger of Corinth seems to bring with it good fortune for Oedipus as well as closure for the reader. All along the king’s fear was that “the oracle may come true.” By announcing the death of King Polybos, the messenger causes Oedipus to question the validity of the oracle. “Polybos has packed the oracles off with him underground. They are empty words (ln 923-924).” Oedipus experiences a reversal of fortune when the messenger later explains that he was not the real son of Polybos and Merope. For this reason the oracle still holds much significance and the audience’s anxiety gr .....

Macbeth: Plots For Murder
.... third murderer, in his mind, will help guarantee that the murder is completed and that the prophesy does not come true. The circumstances surrounding this plan also make it evident that Macbeth is involved. The night is approaching and it is dark, so the other murders cannot see who it is. Moreover, no other individual knew the exact details of the murder plans and when and where it was to take place. Furthermore, he is acting at the banquet when he pretends to see Banquo. His acting after Duncan's death is proof that pretending is not difficult for him.
In conclusion, the third murderer in Shakespeare's Macbeth is Macbet .....

Comparison/Contrast Essay On Hamlet And A Machiavellian Prince
.... catch Claudius. He couldn’t just go in and kill the guy because the people would be against him.
A Machiavellian Prince has to be liked by his people. His people are his fortress. If he were to just walk in and kill a king, the people would kill him. Hamlet had to catch Claudius in front of the people. He devised a plan to add some lines to a play. The lines would consist of King Hamlet’s murder exactly how Claudius did it. When the lines are read, the emotional reponse of Claudius would be observed. The original story would remain the same. The Players agreed to do it. “... I’ll catch the conscious of the King.” Ham .....
