Gold
.... search for gold was wide spread"(Green 1968).
Gold is mainly extracted through mining. It is mainly found in
tiny flakes or sands but sometimes is found in nuggets. The largest nugget
ever found weighed eight kilograms. "Gold deposits are usually classified
as lode, placer, massive or disseminated types" (Colliers Encyclopedia).
"Lode deposits are mostly associated with acidic ingenous intrusives in
rocks of the Precambrian to late Tertiary periods"(Green 1968). Metallic
gold is mostly found in lode deposits. The weathering of lode deposits
causes gold to build up in placer deposits. Placer deposits come in many
different .....

Microbiology
.... Jansen created the microscope. Although Robert Hooke is
the one who made it widely known. In 1665 Hooke published a book called
Micrographie. It contained his thoughts on chemistry as well as a
description and list of uses for a microscope. With this he opened the
door to microbiology.
For the first time the world was able to see very small creatures
and objects. From the use of a microscope he was able to make drawings of
the structure of a feather, the eye of a fly, the stinger of a bee, and the
plant-like form of mold. And from his observations of a slice of cork, he
discovered that everything is made .....

The Planet Mars
.... done, the habitat lander takes them
back up to orbit where they meet back up with their CTV, waiting patiently
in orbit, that takes them back home.
The money issue is being handled in many different ways. The most
successful plan so-far is the ThinkMars plan. Students at MIT and Harvard
are setting up a for-profit corporation which they contract out various
tasks to small businesses and corporations for NASA research centers. The
US and other govt.’s help out by buying certain rights to the space craft,
while the corporation will sell certain media rights and other promotional
opportunities making up for the cost difference .....

Electrolytes
.... (electrically) bonded together. They already made out of cations
and anions, but in their solid state the ions are locked into position in
their crystal structure, and can’t move around. When the ionic compound is
dissolved into water the water molecules, which are polar,(having a
positive and a negative end) will be attracted to the positive ions. This
attraction of different charges will create tension in the crystal and it
will overcome the attice (the arrangement of molecules in a crystalline
solid) energy keeping the crystal in place. Once this happens the cations
will be surrounded by water molecules, and so wi .....

Iron And Rust
.... an air proof and also a water proof
substance. This method is the least expensive, therefore it is the most
common.
The forming of rust is known as a chemical reaction. A chemical
reaction is defined as a process by which atoms are redistributed,
resulting in a change in the molecular composition of the substances. Rust
is also known as iron oxide. Rusting is a chemical reaction that takes
place rather slowly. Chemical Kinetics, the study of reaction rates,
states that three conditions must be met in order for a reaction to take
place: the molecules must collide; the molecules must be positioned in a
way so that the reacta .....

Gold
.... electricity.
As you can see, gold is an element that is not only a great gift
for someone, but is very usefull if actually put to use. The main drawback
to gold is that it is a very precious metal. We dont have an unlimited
supply of it. This is why gold today is priced so high and really doesn't
drop that much over time.

The Monkey
.... are an exception.
Except for the night-roaming durukuli of tropical America, monkeys are
active during the day, moving frequently in bands in search of vegetation,
birds' eggs, smaller animals, or insects to eat. Monkeys are highly social
animals and are often organized in clans headed by an old male; these clans
are rigidly defined in such species as howlers and baboons.
As in all primates the brain is comparatively large. This feature, combined
with the freeing of the hands and a well-developed vision, allows monkeys a
great latitude of activity. Among the smaller New World forms that have
endeared themselves to humans becaus .....

Triceratops Hottidus: “Horrible Three-horned Face”
.... supported by the fining of bone beds, large
deposits of bones of the same species in am area.
Triceratops hatched from eggs, which may have been cared for by
adults.
Which threatened by predators, Triceratops probably changed into
its enemy, like the modern-day rhinoceros does. This was probably a very
effective defense.
DIET, TEETH, ADN TRICERATOPS POSITION IN THE FOOD CHAIN:
Triceratops was as herbivore, a plant eater(a primary consumer), It
probably ate cycads, palms, and other low-lying plants with its tough beak.
Triceratops could chew well with its cheek teeth(like other Ceratopsians,
but unlike most other dinosaurs .....

Compressed Gas: Helium
.... of gases slows, as "stale"
air in the lungs is no longer replaced by "fresh" air. Oxygen is
actually removed from the blood stream during the exchange of gases.
depending on how completely oxygen is replaced by helium, you may lose
consciousness quickly and without warning - you may literally pass out
while still standing. The usual result is an uncontrolled fall that can
cause serious injury, even if normal breathing resumes before brain damage
occurs due to lack of oxygen. This is to inform you that inhaling
helium can cause more than a funny voice. It can cause serious injuries.
Helium is not flammable, but it is sold .....

The Problem With The Amount Of Trash In The United States
.... done as much as it should be. In New York city we
have one of the world’s most largest and most crowded landfills which is
proven in the article. Fresh Kills landfill, on Staten Island is extremely
big but will be closed in a few years. I New York State there were 1600
landfills in the 1960’s and today the figure is in the hundreds. Trash is
a big problem in our community and is still increasing.
The problem of trash needs to be fixed and there are some things
that we can do. One of the things we can do to help this problem is make
less trash. Many things are overpackaged and if there is less garbage
there will be more r .....

Power Of The Atom
.... developed an
interesting object, that gave you the capability of talking live with one
person, other then yourself. This object later became known as the well
respected telephone. Although when Bell first invented the phone there were
many kinks that needed to be worked out. And over time, after being
constantly worked with and being revised the telephone was close to
perfection. It took sometime for the phone to really catch on, but when
people began to see how convenient it was, families everywhere went out
and purchase one.
Imagine going one day, 24 hours without using the phone once. I don’
t know about you, but I can’t go .....

The Positive Effects Of DDT
.... exceed the
flaws.
DDT was first synthesized in 1887 and patented as an insecticide in
1939 by a Swiss chemist, Dr. Paul Müller (Whelan 69). It initially became
popular because of its effectiveness against insects, specifically clothes
moths and parasites of both animals and plants. DDT was welcomed as a
substitute for toxic insecticides like arsenic, mercury, fluorine, and lead
(Whelan 70). It was used by the Allied troops during World War II in order
to kill body lice without having harmful side-affects on humans. The
elimination of the lice resulted in the absence of typhus fever (which was
carried by the lice) among the Al .....
