Personal Writing: What I Learned This Semester In English Class
.... my goal is to write better papers. I write to become a
better writer.
That is, I feel, a very important thing that I learned this semester. I don't
think, "O.K., I have to get at least a B on this paper." Instead, I think,
"O.K., I have to use this assignment to improve my work." This is a much better
approach because it causes the writer to try to produce a well written piece.
Writing for a grade often causes the writer to do just enough to get by.
I also learned that it is much easier to produce a good piece of writing if I am
kept interested. By choosing our own topics, rather than have the teacher give
us topics to wri .....

The Three Part Assertion Method
.... it, but please don't force others to 'enjoy' it with you. I noticed that
when your door is closed, I can no longer hear it in my room and there is no
problem. Thanks! So, what exactly are playing there? I have this great
game.." The first sentence of this quote uses Bolton's tactic. The feeling
part, hostility and frustration, of it is implied. The last part implies that I
intend to remain friendly and hold no grudges.
To be consistent with the project objectives, I will briefly explain a
real situation in which I could have used the three part assertion method. Five
years ago, at the age of 19, I worked at a loca .....

Creative Writing: A Sunday
.... when she asks for two sections. She wants it far too much.
Practised that too in her head over and over in the nights. Listening to them in
the corridors. If Mary shits herself again tonight she can sleep in it.
Listening to the cries and the calling, I have to get home. I have to, the
children want their dinner. She sits in the bus away from the window. Afraid to
look out. Cars and people on the footpath. People watching. For her. Tom says
it's a nice place, Mum. Warm and clean and friendly and plenty to do. Except
that everything to do there ends up with dying and there are better places to do
that and better people to do it wi .....

What I Would Place In A Time Capsule
.... tool for teaching and productivity across the globe. With the
aid of computers, new and better systems are manufactured and put to work
constantly. The amount of data storage, speed, and processing power is
increasing exponentially, and the obsolete models are taken off shelves and out
of business to be replaced. Within the next ten years alone, computers will
have evolved to what most of us can't even perceive now. By placing a top of
the line computer system into our time capsule, we can provide our future
generation with the acknowledgment of success and probably a little humor in the
field of computers.
Maybe not the mo .....

My Trip To The Philippines
.... In Taiwan, everybody use chopsticks to eat.
Nobody will use spoon and folk to eat, because that's a kind of hard. Just like
my first time used the spoon and folk. I doesn't know either to use my left hand
to hold spoon or use my right hand.
People have longer weekend than Taiwan. Both Sunday and Saturday are their
weekend. In Taiwan, we can only have Sunday and half Saturday. For adults, they
even only have Sunday to rest. That's unfair to adults. They should have longer
weekend then kids, because they worked so hard. So, adults most be exhausted
after hard work.
People are happy go lucky. They wouldn't care much money they .....

Creative Writing: Destroying Racism
.... helps
white man; white man helps colored man. Doesn't sound right ? That's how bad
our society has gotten. Disturbing? Of course. But what is more disturbing is,
lately when these issues of racism have come up, there seems to be impatience
and annoyance. "Does everything have to be racism?" people ask. And they're
always complaining that "It's just a little thing." No, it's not.
People are always saying that there is little prejudice. But how is that
true ? It's like saying you're a little pregnant; can't happen. But this is
nothing new. How many times have you heard "He's fast; for a white guy." Or
"White men can't jump," Or " .....

Creative Writing: The Case Of The Broken Hutch
.... for the company at other stores but had not worked together. I
was hired when the manager went to his yearly manager meeting in Reno.
When I was hired I was hired on as a delivery driver. The delivery driver is
responsible for all of the deliveries and pick-ups of store merchandise. The
only training that I received were two videos. One video was on "Smith's Safe
Driving Techniques", and the other was "In-Home Deliveries and In-Store
Deliveries". Through working with the company I learned many new things. We
got the newest and latest electronic equipment and computers, so I had to stay
on top of technology. All of this .....

Personal Writing: After "Casino"
.... I had a problem because he
pulled his truck up, got out, and got up in my face. What were you sayin' to
your friend just now? You talkin' sh*t? Listen man, I said, it's cool, there's
no pee on my car! Well I think you two still gots a problem over here. With that
he proceeds to throw one of their empty beer bottles on the ground and then one
at my car. We argue some more and then his friend gets up in Ryan's face. Just
when I think this guy is calmed down he goes over to my car and pushes a
shopping cart into the right rear quarter panel.
By this time I had lost it, this guy was going down. I went to my car
and started to get m .....

Catcher In The Rye - A Sequel

out of Central Station.” I stormed out, knowing that I was defenseless against
them I went straight into my room and packed, thinking of ways to get back at
them. I thought then I realized that I shouldn't even bother wasting my time, I
knew that it would be a small time before I would be kicked out anyhow.
Bags outside the door at 5:00 A.M. So your father can put them on the
car. A couple days went by, as boring as any other days. I mostly sat around on
my bed thinking about those phony people I will be stuck with. Hopefully I can
be stuck with a roommate who resembles good ol' Jane Gallagher. But not those

Personal Writing: Christmas Memories
.... with each other. The
constant murmer of the voices, serves as a background for the music. My cousins
are running making their laps around the living room while playing tag and
laughing to their hearts content.
I hear a voice saying "My have you ever grown up!" I turn to my left and
stand up to address my complimenter. Grandma, awaken from her heavenly sleep,
stands slightly crouched with an antique smile painted gracefully across her
face. I reach out and hug her frail body. We both sit down and talk about my
families prolonged journey to her house.
The rest of the night carries on similar to this and to my suprise,
supper is .....

Personal Writing: College
.... told me to think about other colleges and to think about
other things to do instead of college, but I knew that < > was right for me.
They often suggested that I go to community college for a semester or two and
make sure that I was doing something that I wanted to do. I had attended the
community college in my area during my last year in high school to take some
extra courses, and I truly detested the place. I really did not want to go
anywhere but < >.
So I petitioned for readmission to a new department at< >. I decided
that I should focus my studies on something other than engineering, because it
was much more than I .....

Personal Writing: The Day Of Surprise
.... to unify the worst of foes through love and forgiveness. I could hardly
wait for that day to come.
As the night before Valentines Day had rolled around, anticipation had
escalated to an all time peak. Nevertheless, it was all set aside as my parents
once again started to fight. My brother and I were sent to the car in the garage
so that we would not witness them fighting. We knew the routine. I was scared
and I could still hear angry voices dueling back and forth. My brother was a
senior in high school and even he seemed frightened when they fought. Although
he tried to hide his fear, I knew he was afraid when my father wou .....
