Images From The Dhammapada
.... mind,
As he continually seeks more and more
Of life's fleeting pleasures."
Once again the image of water was used, but in a much different
context. Here The Dhammapada refers to water not as drops filling a bucket,
but it shows a more forceful side of water. A raging flood engulfing a
sleepy village. This is a rather violent image think that really
emphasizes the Buddha's teachings; that one should seek wisdom and purity
of character, instead of simple pleasures. The third quotation that I
selected, deals with the search for pleasure and also uses a water
metaphor.

Critical Review Of 1984 By George Orwell
.... of the controling government.
The government itself was very mysterious and had several parts that were
very suspicious to the main character, Winston, who worked in one part of
the government. It was divided up into four parts. The Ministry of Truth,
where Winston worked, was incharge of education and the arts. The Ministry
of Peace, which was in command of war. The Ministry of plenty, which
controlled economic affairs. And finally the Ministry of Love, which
concerned itself with law and order.
Orwell also uses description of technology to show how the government
controlled it's citizens. He constantly refers to telescreens .....

King Authur And The Knights Of The Round Table
.... he keeps the lady's scarf. The reason he does this
is obviously for its protective properties. This seems like a good idea,
but this violates his promise to give everything he gets back to the lord
of the manor. It also violates his faith in God's ability to save him from
being decapitated. Sir Gawain isn't as good at following the code of honor
in this story as in the other stories.
The final example I will point out is when he faces the Green
Knight. He is confident that the Green Knight can't kill him, just like he
couldn't kill the Green Knight a year ago. However, he gets impatient with
the Green Knight's childish trick .....

Sir Launcelot
.... admired, he
ceaselessly fulfilled each aspect of the code. Throughout the book, he
exhibits both honor and loyalty to King Arthur and all his fellow knights.
Courtly love is another part of the code of Chivalry. Courtly love is love
often between one man and another man's wife. By having an affair with
King Arthur's wife, although still abiding by the code of chivalry, his
loyalty was put into question.
Sir Launcelot had one dominant flaw; he was hopelessly in love with
King Arthur's wife. Merlin once prophesied, "Gwynevere is destined to love
Sir Launcelot and he her, and many disasters will result from their love."

utilizing the environmental factors as a part of growing up and indirectly
criticized the acrimonious racism.
As an underage individual with an inner-directed influence by means

image of my father became associated with my pangs of hunger, and whenever
I felt hunger I thought of him wit .....

Animal Farm
.... main animal who got the rebellion started even
though he died before it actually began. Old Major's role compares to
Lenin and Marx whose ideas would spark the communist revolution. Lenin
became the leader and teacher of the working class in Russia, and their
determination to struggle against capitalism. Like Old Major, Lenin and
Marx wrote essays and gave speeches to the working class poor. The
working class in Russia, as compared with the barnyard animals in Animal
Farm, were a laboring class of people that received low wages for their
work. Old major tells the animals that the source of the problem is man,
