of consolation. Of course Tony knows Jaz better than I do, but most people
like some comforting when they are upset about something.
(In the following paragraphs I presume that the city referred to in the
text is London. This may not be correct, but I know of no other English
city with an Underground).
Miss Massey and her situation is not unusual in London. There are
many destitute people living on a day-to-day basis just like herself. We
Danes are not used to seeing homeless people walking around in the streets
here in Denmark, but in London this is a normal sight. Some of them have
chosen to live their life in th .....

Moral Development In The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn And The Great Gatsby
.... Finn
develop morally as the relate the story that reflects each one's position
in society.
The Great Gatsby, by Fitzgerald, is narrated by Nick Caraway. Nick
is a sophisticated observer of character, who starts out as an amoral
person. His character is a very peculiar one, because he is somewhat
neutral though this whole story, especially without condemning others of
what they don't have. "Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just
remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages
you've had". This advice was given to Nick by his father, which stuck to
him ever since. This quote reflects a little .....

The Great Gatsby: Moral Responsibility In Gatsby
.... of Gatsby because of his affair with Myrtle. George killed Gatsby
not only because he thought he killed Myrtle, but also because he was under
the impression that Gatsby was the one having the affair with his wife.
Tom knew George was thinking this and when George talked to him, Tom seized
his opportunity to get off the hook for his sin and directed it to Gatsby,
making himself even more morally incorrect for doing it. It is clearly
justifiable to blame Tom for Gatsby's death.
Daisy can also be put morally responsible for Gatsby's death. Her
bad morals relating to Gatsby's death are displayed when Gatsby said,

Morals And Psychological Aspects In Jane Eyre
.... were at fault Jane was always blamed.
By looking at Jane's moral values it becomes apparent what Rochester has,
in Jane's eyes, done wrong. He was deceitful in many ways. For one, he
didn't tell Jane that he was already married when he asked her to marry
him. Big mistake! He also pretended that he was in love with and going
to marry Blanche Ingram so that he could make Jane jealous.
Even though Jane loves Mr. Rochester she cannot go against her morals; her
beliefs. Moral and psyche are one in the conscience. Jane may have been
mentally weak in resisting the impulse to marry Mr. Rochester after she
found out the truth, bu .....

Woman On The Edge Of Time: Mother To The Tribe
.... hating herself and becomes able to love herself
enough to fight for her own survival" (66). In Marge Piercy's Woman on the
Edge of Time the motif of mothering is the basis of the story; she uses a
mother as the protagonist and creates a utopian society based on the
strength of the nurturing.
To see how the mother theme is woven throughout the story one must
observe how Connie is in the present, as well as the future. In the
present Connie is considered a degenerate. She has grown to be a woman
that is rejected by society because she is uneducated, Hispanic, poor, and
more importantly female. The future world is one that c .....

My Antonia: A Review
.... is eventually going to happen to the characters. He persuades you to
sympathize with all of them. His perception, being broad and persuasive,
sets the tone for the whole book. What is the purpose of having the story
told by Jim Burden thirty years later? From that perspective he can
present with great clarity and tenderness the highlights of his memories.
A man of the world, he is reinvestigating his values. Jim Burden sets down
everything the name of Antonia brings back to him. Antonia represents to
him the most fundamental, traditional way to lead one's life, including the

Comparison Of Lord Of The Flies And All Quiet On The Western Front
.... The boys chant "Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill
her blood." It is clear from Golding's description of the revelry that
followed the killing that the act of the hunt provided the boys with more
than food. The action of killing another living thing gives them pleasure.
The last stage in Jack's metamorphosis is demonstrated by the murder of the
sow. Golding describes the killing almost as a rape. He says, "Jack was
on top of the sow, stabbing downward wherever pig flesh appeared ... Jack
found the throat, and the hot blood spouted over his hands. The sow
collapsed under them and they were heavy and fulfilled upon her." .....

identification with heroines such as Cordelia.

a proper demonstration of vanity. Anne is offended by Mrs. Lynde's
comments about her appearance and this causes her to have a terrible
outburst of anger. Anne must subsequently apologize to Mrs. Lynde. She puts
forth a tremendous display of humility and is very pleased over the
thoroughness of her own apology. Marilla sees Anne “... reveling in the
thoroughness of her abasement.” (p74) Anne comments to Marilla “I
