The Crucible's Giles Corey: More Weight
.... offers evidence that Putnam falsely accused a man
as a witch in order to get his land, and the judge asks Corey to give the
name of the man who heard Putnam's conversation as evidence, Giles refuses
to give the name so to protect him, while he himself would have to hang, an
act of honor and courage: “I will not give you no name. I mentioned my
wife's name once and I'll burn in hell long enough for that. I stand mute.”
(p. 97)
Giles Corey finally becomes a true hero when he is tortured to
death for remaining silent. Instead of giving the court a name, exactly

Oedipus The King: Oedipus' Downfall Is Because Of King Laius
.... Shepherd - In pity master. I thought he would take it away to a
foreign country--to the place he came from. If you are the man he says you
are, you were born the most unfortunate of men.” (86-89)
When King Laius heard this prophecy and returned to Thebes to tell of this
prophecy to his wife, they planned to kill their child, but neither had the
guts to do it. They had a servant shepherd bring their child to Mt.
Cithaeron to kill it, but the servant felt pity for the child and gave him
to a fellow Shepherd from Corinth in hopes he could take it to a foreign
country to take care of it.
Sophocles says that prophecies fr .....

Summary Of Oedipus
.... say Oedipus is the murderer: “I say that you are the murderer
that you seek.” Tiresias further states that Oedipus is married to his
mother: “You are living with your next of kin in unimagined shame.”
Oedipus, unwilling to turn the mirror on himself, resorts to insulting
Tiresias: “Was it Creon that planned this or you yourself...the riddle
about man is about himself.” A man's fate is his character; at this moment
Oedipus has no character. Oedipus presumes there is a conspiracy plotted
against him. His arrogance and rashness is very apparent in his believing
that everyone is wrong except he (is not). Being so bold, Oedipu .....

George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion": Henry Higgins Is A Coarse Rude Man
.... all
over the tables and screaming like a maniac. He also shows this character
trait when he is talking to Eliza at the end of the play, when he shows
that he actually does have feelings for her, she tells him that she loves
Freddy and he loves her very much in return. He then makes fun of Freddy
saying that he is a pathetic loser and that he will never be able to
support a now high class woman like Eliza.
Although Henry is best described as coarse, he also possesses other
traits aswell. Henry Higgins is a well spoken gentleman, but in a
different way. He speaks perfect English and never makes a mistake in his
pronunciation, .....

"Rage"
.... thought it would be. The real definition is violent
explosive anger. Also to be furious intensity, as of a storm or disease.
Brenda Gillespie (39) stated that rage to her meant to be upset, to die
hard with a vengeance, or when you act stupid. Julie Manning (40) stated
that her personal definitions for rage was to storm or to be angered.
Michael Manning (41) stated his definition as mean, mad, furious, or in his
words “ pissed off. “
Next in my search was looking my word up in the thesaurus. My
first reaction to these findings was skeptical. I didn't know this one
word could have so many synonyms and to find out that the wor .....

alternative newsletters.
In 1989, Moore produced and directed a documentary entitled 'Roger
and Me', a political satire about his quest to convince General Motors'

films of the year' lists. The film was also given many awards and even led
to the founding of the Center for Alternative Media.

Falstaff's Role In Henry IV, Part One
.... can exist for its own sake apart from the major theme of the drama.
3. That the play is really about the fate of the kingdom, and that you
(the reader) do not connect Falstaff's scenes with the main action. This
means that the play has no real unity.
Starting with Johnson's first assumption, I do agree with this. Any
discussion of Falstaff is bound to include a judgement about his moral
character. Is he a coward, a thief, a glutton? No one can deny that he is
in fact a glutton and a thief. A coward is debatable. I choose to think he
is. He is self centered and cares only for his own profit and enjoyment. He
will protect .....

Movie: Romeo And Juliet - Director's Different Personal Opinions
.... on Romeo since Old Capulet said for him to leave Romeo alone.
Secondly, I will illustrate you some changed to the time-frame of
the plot. This is one of the easier comparisons since you can tell if
parts of the plot have been rearranged. An example of a change to the plot
is when (in the book) Romeo first meets Juliet. Romeo says about fifty
words to Juliet and kisses her. While she is being kissed, the Nurse calls
her away because her mother wishes to see her. In the movie, Juliet is
called away even before Romeo talks to her. Juliet is called away to dance
with Paris, but when the dance ends and Paris is watching th .....

Romeo And Juliet: The Capulet Family
.... marrying Paris, Juliet just went along with the concept , even
though that was possibly not what she wanted.
An even more significant instance of such a thing occurring is the
fact that Juliet feared to tell her parents that she had fallen in love
with Romeo, a Montague. She knew that if she informed them of how she felt,
they would get angry and maybe disown her, just because of their hate for
all Montagues.
That is another of the Capulet family's flaws. They are rather
narrow-minded because of their continuing, senseless conflict with the
Montagues. Both households are of equal fault in this case, but that only
proves that .....

Romeo And Juliet: Romeo
.... 500, line 67, when Capulet says "Verona brags of him." When Lord
Capulet said that it shows that he is well respected by Verona and its
people. People say bad things about Romeo, when Tybalt says "It fits when
suck a villian is a guest, I'll not endure him" on page 500, line 75.
Tybalt calls him a villian because he dis-likes Romeo and wants to kill him
because he came un-invited to the Capulets party.
Romeo does many things throughout the play that will make him look
bad, but he also does many good things. Romeo likes to show hid affection
to Juliet every time he sees her. Most people like Romeo, except the
Capulets. .....
