Cinematography: Everything You Need To Know
.... to appear to flicker. A frequency
above about 48 interruptions a second will eliminate flicker.
Camera
Like a still camera (see CAMERA), a movie camera shoots each picture
individually. The movie camera, however, must also move the film precisely
and control the shutter, keeping the amount of light reaching the film
nearly constant from frame to frame. The shutter of a movie camera is
essentially a circular plate rotated by an electric motor. An opening in
the plate exposes the film frame only after the film has been positioned
and has come to rest. The plate itself continues to rotate smoothly.

Gustave Courbet's Reclining Nude
.... the ground to her left.
The woman is rendered very softly and is in a very sensuous pose. This
picture would have been found scandalous for its sexual overtones as was
Courbet's La Demoiselles au bord de la Seine. A scarlet cloth lies in
front of her; it has a very rumpled look which has sexual implications. The
vacant, wistful look and the languid crossing of her arms suggests that she
is thinking of a lover who has just left her. The careful shadowing of her
facial features leads one to believe she has something to hide from public
knowledge. It is not covered enough, however, for one to believe she has
any shame for appea .....

Greek Architecture
.... earliest monumental buildings in Greek architecture were the
temples. Since these were solidly built and carefully maintained, they had
to be replaced only if destroyed. The architectural orders, Doric on the
mainland and Ionic in the eastern Aegean, were developed in the archaic
temples, and their lasting example tended to make Greek architecture
conservative toward changes in design or in building technology.
The Archaic period evolved after the Mycenaen palace collapsed in 1200
BCE during the dark ages when people began rebuilding. This era brought
about the introduction of both the Doric and Ionic Orders.
The Doric .....

Pop Art
.... of Art and at the Modern Museum of Art.
I chose to describe As I Opened Fire, by Roy Lichenstein. It was made in
1964 and is the the third of three panels in a narrative arrangement.
As I Opened Fire is magna on a canvas which is 68 X 56. Its composition
reminds of a comic book. It shows 2 guns firing of the side of a ship, with
letters on the top saying "That my ship was below them..." The color scheme
was very interesting. For backround, Lichenstein used grey-blue. For the
guns he used white, grey, and black, giving them a three-dimensional look
using shadowing. For the fire (coming out of the guns) he uses white,
orange, .....

Romeo And Juliet: The Betrayal Of The Adults To Juliet
.... pleas for the
marriage to be delayed a year. Capulet and Lady Capulet do not know Juliet
is married to Romeo, a fact that may have, yet not likely altered these
circumstances. Her parent's betrayal causes Juliet to look for comfort from
the Nurse.
The Nurse also fails to support Juliet's choice against marrying
Paris. Instead of supporting Juliet the Nurse instead believes "I think it
is best you marry the county...For it excels your first (marriage)." (III,
v, 230, 236) Juliet feels betrayed by this reply as the Nurse "...
dispraise my lord (Romeo) with that same tounge/Which she hath praised him
beyond compare/So many thousa .....

BONGO.. Always American Made - Analysis Of Bongo Jeans Ad
.... believe they are there to counteract the
sexual overtones and idea of risk-taking in the ad. Milk is included as if
to say, "Even though these two young people are probably going to have sex
when the game is finished, they are wholesome, good people." Milk works
much better than using soft drinks, for example. If the makers of the ad
had used cola for instance, the reader could not have really known if the
liquid in the glasses was cola, dark beer, or liquor. By using milk, the
people who produced the ad made certain that the reader could make no
mistake about what the glasses contain.
Surrounding the border of the ad are .....

Bugs Bunny And The Marlboro Man
.... drinking. Take Rosanne, for instance;
the opening scene shows her sitting around a table playing poker, while her
husband smokes a cigar and drinks a beer. In Married With Children,
another show, Al sits around the house reading pornographic material, and
while working he ogles the women shopping in his store. Both of these
portray a family that does not care about each other. The kids run wild,
while the parents argue. Many shows contain a lot of violence. One of the
popular children's shows is the Power Rangers, which consists of nothing
except fighting. Many children, after watching this show, start punching
and kicking .....

Antigone: Changing Views Of The Chorus
.... and his unwavering decisions concerning the law
which was placed upon the city regarding the body of Polynices: “When he
weaves in the laws of the land, and the justice of the gods that binds his
oaths together, he and his city rise high--but the city casts out that man
who weds himself to inhumanity thanks to reckless daring. Never share my
hearth never think my thoughts, whoever does such things.” (Lines 409-416)
In my opinion the man laying down the law here is Creon and Antigone is
the “man” wedding herself to inhumanity.
The next major choral address is a turning point regarding their
attitude towards Antigone. At thi .....

Characterization Of Reverend Samuel Parris In "The Crucible"
.... demands that all those on the
list be called in for questioning.
pg93
Danforth, glancing at the list: How many names are here?
Frances: Ninety-one, Your Excellency.
Parris, sweating: These people should be summoned. Danforth
looks up at him questioningly. For questioning.
Parris: This is a clear attack upon the court!
Parris also attacks Mary Warren harshly when she changes sides to
help John Proctor clear his wife's name. Once Mary claims she fainted at
will he tries to make her prove this, and once he has weakened her whole
defensive stand, the other girls move in for the .....

The Play "Amadeus" Is Mainly Concerned With The Destructive Nature Of Jealousy
.... the one who should be jealous, as he has little in the way
of money or assets, or even respect. All he has is his talent and his
priceless music, but not the sense he needs to capitalise on it.
It isn't the fact that someone has more talent than him, the problem is, as
he sees it, that he isn't as good as someone else after making a bargain
with God, which should guarantee that he is the best in the world at least
until he dies. But no. “I know myself forever mediocre” he cries as he
realises that the gift given to him by God only exists to allow him to
recognise the greatness and incomparable beauty of the music of God. It .....

The Symbol Of Black In "The Crucible"
.... of poking Abby with a needle by a poppet.
Mary must also feel black because she meant no harm by putting a
needle inside of the poppet and yet she gets in trouble also. The black
signifies Elizabeth's anger hate for Abby. It is clearly shown when she
says that Abby should be ripped out of the world and that Abby is murder.
Black also signifies confusion. First of all when all the colors
are mixed together they form black. When everything is mixed it causes
chaos and confusion. Mr. Proctor is confused towards the end of Act Two.
He doesn't know whether or not to tell about Abby and the needle, because
she might c .....
