Sexual Violence Against Women
.... "Sexual contact or threat of sexual contact or coercion for the purpose of sexual contact which is not freely entered into a mutually agreeable to both parties." It is difficult to know what ones perception of sexual harassment is. An arm around the shoulder to one person may not make them uncomfortable but to another it could be harassment. For me a pat or a pinch on a woman's bottom is sexual harassment. I feel we need to make sure to let that person know that this is not acceptable. No doesn't mean "NO" anymore. You have to show your harasser by your body language as well. It could possibly be stronger. "E .....

The Role Of Entertainers As Educators
.... were all the same, they spread identical teachings. Christian psalms and hymns in Apostolic times were sung to spread the knowledge and faith of Christianity. In fact, Christianity was promoted from the start by music. Churches were for long the only centers of learning, with monks teaching all lessons through music (Young "9). Through the use of sacred music, monks and clergy successfully spread the teachings of their religions in a practical manner.
Entertainers used the theater as a place to tell the stories of the day, both fictional and topical. The African oral tradition was rich in folk tales, myths, riddles, .....

The American And Japanese Social System
.... if the Japanese market is not like the US market, then it must be unfair. The Japanese have clearly perceived their national interest in trade terms and have organized themselves and disciplined themselves to do something about it.(State, 7) There are strengths and weaknesses in both the American and the Japanese social system
The Emperor of Japan descends from an Imperial House that has been more or less in direct succession for 1500 years. When the Portuguese, the Dutch, the Spanish and the British went out around the world creating colonies, Japan was hardly touched. We need to keep in mind also some simple facts. J .....

Freedom
.... has its limitations, because certain people don’t have the money to buy whatever they want. For example a person making $30,000 cannot buy a million-dollar house just because that is not realistic. Their income does not allow this type of purchase. People put some of these limitations on themselves by not making the amount necessary to buy what they want. In reality everyone cannot always get way they want it.
Physical freedom is the most often used freedom in the world today. This freedom allows people to move without restriction to a certain extent. For example a person cannot jump over a building because that is physi .....

Youth's Fight To Gain Freedom From The Other Generation
.... approaches used by authors to express these views are often representative of the two main systems used by youths to help gain their freedoms. The first approach, taken by the Port Huron Statement and authors such as Gerzon, Reich, Revel and Gitlin, follows the ideals of the New Left. The New Left represents youths striving for political change through cultural means. People are encouraged to work for their ideals. In contrast, the second approach, taken by Rubin and Didion, reflect the ideals and mannerisms of the "Be-in" society. The "Be-ins" represent another group of youths who attempt to gain freedoms through more radical mea .....

Ethics/Child Labor
.... the children are exploited and also is when they are worked in conditions that are hazardous. 1
Child labor is a problem throughout the world, and especially in developing countries. Child labor is most common in rural areas where the capacity to enforce minimum age requirements for schooling and work is lacking. The children work for many reasons, the most important being poverty and the pressure upon them to escape from those circumstances. Though the children are not well paid, they still serve as major contributors to family income in developing countries. Schooling problems also contribute to child labor, whether it .....

Effects Of Media And Pornography
.... These feelings are spread into society. This is exactly why the concealment of the sex organs and teaching feelings of shame toward human sexuality is so common worldwide (Christensen). Contrary to the beliefs of many, the mass media did not create these settings. In some societies women have no qualms about showing their bodies. In several European cultures it is common for women to sunbathe topless, or even nude. However, in other societies, such as the Middle East, women cover their bodies from head to toe. The media has been bombarded with criticism, overwhelmingly from the female community, relative to the amount of se .....

Gender Communication In The Workplace
.... with getting information and hard data from conversation. Tannen states that what women look for in communication is human connection, while men consider status to be most important. They are looking for independence and are constantly looking for higher accomplishments. Intimacy threatens this independence, so men have a tendency to avoid it.
One of the old sayings about women is that they talk more than men. It turns out that it is not necessarily true. Women seem to talk more in private conversations than do men. Women do not generally have a fear of intimacy and therefore are much more open with one another during privat .....

Working Mothers
.... is the one that is constantly referred to as "bad" because it paints the woman as someone who does not really care about the effect of working will have on the baby. In fact, most of these mothers have made this choice with painstaking care. They are constantly feeling what everyone is thinking, and this in turn causes undue stress on these mothers. The other model of the working mom is the one most people think of when discussing working mothers. This model is one of a woman having too many demands of her --housewife, mother and paid employee - which may lead to role strain due to fatigue and role overload. The competing dem .....

Body Modification In Today’s Society
.... I will talk about why, what, where, and how people modify their body and how people look upon them.
Youth and adolescence is one of, if not the most, significant and influential moments in one’s life, when youth are seeking their identity of who they are. Tattooing and piercing are one of the many ways through which youth may express their identity, for they are symbolic representations of how the self is conceived or understood. People may also want themselves to be portrayed as someone who they are not. For example, someone gets a tattoo or earrings just to look “tough” or “cool”. I remember when I was young; I thought h .....

Relationships
.... time together can cause resentment from each other as well as from friends and family who don't get the time they deserve. I have been the forgotten friend of a girl who spent all of her time with "the love of her life." The relationship lasted only a few months, and our friendship died right along with their break up. The alienation of friends and family is one of the most devastating effects of an unhealthy relationship. Constant arguing can be a sign of unhealthy togetherness as well. Frequent conflicts are unnecessary and can be easily avoided by being aware of the signs of unhealthy togetherness.
The phrase "joined at .....

Teenagers And Sex
.... sexually permissive attitudes and behaviors. Until we, as a society, decide to take charge and develop responsible media messages that encourage positive behaviors and attitudes, this will continue.
I disagree very strongly with the author’s choice of harsh words geared toward teen parents. The author is telling them to act like adults and take responsibility like one, but at the same time they are turning right around and using vulgar language and proving they, too, are immature. Where do teens often learn how to behave? From adults!
I do agree, though, with the statement itself, minus the harsh words. Teens think they are a .....
