Only Those With No Hope Take Drugs
.... drugs.
When people do not know how to handle their stress and depressions
properly, they seek for ways that can solve, at least lessen their pains. Using
drugs is certainly one method to reduce pressures and stress when there is no
help coming from others. Because drug causes temporarily delusion of what a
person sees, hears, and smells, he or she might feel a sense of invulnerability.
It will make anyone from hell to heaven. On the other hand, there are many
ways, other than using drugs, that can help to solve one's problems. There is
always hope unless you don't give it a try. Don't surrender to drugs!

Tobacco Companies Targeting Young People
.... It is not
right to prey on young people just because they are unaware of the dangers of
smoking.
The tobacco industry denies that these symbols target people less than
21 and claim that their advertising goal is simply to promote brand switching
and loyalty. Many people disagree with this statement such as Illinois Rep.
Richard Durbin who said "If we can reduce the number of young smokers, the
tobacco companies will be in trouble and they know it"(Roberts 38).
The problem we are facing is not only with the tobacco companies but
with the young people also. The reason why I say this is because most youths
know that they are being .....

Drug Use Among Teenagers

the most common: orally through paper, sugar cubes, on a piece of gelatin,
or by pill; intravenously; or intramuscularly. A standard dose with
noticeable hallucinogenic effects is about 100-200 ug. The intensity of the
trip is proportional to the size of the dose -- it is interesting to note,
though, that the duration of the trip seems to stay the same at higher doses
(Freedman, 1984). The initial effects begin 20-40 minutes with a sense of
euphoria and dizziness. Hallucinations then begin to occur, with the trip
peaking for 4-5 hours after about an hour since the drug .....

Tobacco Advertising Makes Young People Their Chief Target
.... Mickey Mouse (Breo). That is very shocking information for any
parent to hear.
The industry denies that these symbols target people under 21 and claim that
their advertising goal is simply to promote brand switching and loyalty. Many
people disagree with this statement such as Illinois Rep. Richard Durbin who
states " If we can reduce the number of young smokers, the tobacco companies
will be in trouble and they know it "(Roberts). So what do the tobacco companies
do to keep their industry alive and well? Seemingly, they go toward a market
that is not fully aware of the harm that cigarettes are capable of.

Poverty And Welfare
.... travel time
is not any greater.
What I learned leads me to wonder: Why can't we do the same? Were
Americans then a different people than we are today? Have we become so
corrupted that we don't care about others? Have we become so lazy that we are
unwilling to suffer with? I think not. I hope not. But we have become used to
having someone else do it for us - even though we know that a professional
social worker, with a case load of 200 or so, can't do much more than shuffle
paper. Bad charity drives out good.
My conclusion is that when we complain about a spendthrift modern
welfare state, we're right about th .....

company's welfare-to-work initiative.
The possible short-term effect this would have on society is that people,
on welfare, would be able to work and get paid for it. This will allow them to
be able to build finance of their own that they will be able to help them with
their lives. The long-term effect, though it seemed good for the people, would
be bad for everyone else who weren't on welfare. This would be because the
people working off welfare would really be working off the tax payers money. So,
the people who aren't living off welfare would be pay .....

Welfare: Toil And Trouble
.... welfare is necessary
for many families, and that it must not be cut. Some argue that it is giving
starving families the boost they need to make it one more year. This is only
partially true. Yes, we need welfare, but we also need to limit the amount of
time a family can stay on it. By letting families stay on welfare for extended
periods of time, we are only creating a lazy, dependent culture. Mothers figure
that the welfare check will come in the mail, so where's the motivation for
going out and getting a job? There isn't one. This is why President Clinton
signed the welfare reform bill. He knows that the welfare laws nee .....
