Noah’s Arc, The Rip-Off
.... few were hand-picked by God as good people to start a new, more wholesome and obedient civilization. Gilgamesh’s story says the reason for the flood was the volume the people created. The noise was intolerable and the gods insisted on ending the racket at once, (Duiker, 20).
The singular reason Gilgamesh was spared is that he was informed of the flood by Ea, the water god, through a dream. Ea was one of many gods in this time. He told him to build a boat of equal width and length. He was to tear down his house for wood and tell the curious townspeople that he was instructed to leave the city and go out to sea so as to ple .....

The Journey To New England And Religion's Future
.... there was an organized group of people with a purpose already established. The purpose of starting a whole new religious community.
The first few settlements of New England had many hardships and established a very close community. As more ships arrived every year the original settlements wanted to keep the same tight nit communities intact. The community was so close because everything was based around religion. Every house once established made an effort to keep to the religious ties close to their family. Individual families were kept close due to the way that land was distributed and redistributed to the children.

The Existence Of God
.... of “a being than of which nothing greater can be conceived.” He continues to state that a fool would say that the concept of this being’s existence is only in his mind and in the mind of others but not in reality. However he also admits to the possibility of this being existing in reality. Whatever is understood by the fool is argued that than which nothing is greater can be conceived cannot solely exist in the mind but also in reality, hence, God exists. This personally sounds like a salesperson's pitch to confuse and conquer for a sale. Gaunilo felt the same. He frequently debated with St. Anselm on behalf of the fool. He stated .....

God’s Expectations
.... humans. The woman would have to bear children in pain, and man will dominate women. The man would have to work for a living and be no longer immortal.
There were also people who did live up to God’s expectations; they were usually rewarded and lived happily. Noah, Abraham, and Daniel are three examples of them. Noah was the only good person in the world, so God did not kill him, his wife, and two of every animal, male and female, but killed everything else in the world by drowning everything. Abraham became the father of the Jewish nation and his son, Ishmael, was the father of the Islam religion. Daniel was very smart .....

Sacred Cow, Holy Bull
.... many cultures that to be caught stealing them was often an offense punished by death (Brahman 1).
The cow was not always sacred in India. Long ago in India’s early history, cattle was used basically for food to feed one’s family. It was also used as trade, like money. In about the year 350 A.D., a law was made called the “Code of Manusmriti”. The law did not specifically order the Indian people not to eat the cow, but it stated that they would be better off not to. After this law, the Indian people took a different attitude about the cow. Shortly after that a new law was made that made it a crime to steal, hurt or kill a .....

The Location Of The Ark Of The Covenant
.... according to Exodus Chapter thirty-eight, verse twenty-two. The ark measured approximately1.15 meters long, 0.7 meters high, and 0.7 meters tall, which was carried along by long bars overlaid with gold. These bars slid through rings fastened to the Ark (Exodus36:37).
There were two items placed on the lid of the Ark of the Covenant. These two items were Cherubims made of gold. Exodus chapter thirty-seven describes these angels as being made of pure gold. Each was beaten out of one solid piece of gold, and placed on opposite ends of the Ark. The Cherubim’s faces touched each other, along with their wings outstretched .....

The Bible And If God Exists
.... to religion.
I've never seen or talked to a god, or seen a god do anything unmistakably godlike. People insist they know one exists, but most of them really say they only feel it, and don't offer any other proof. Indeed, it is odd that those few who honestly offer the more genuine proof of actually hearing god talk are branded insane even by the believers. Believers are probably right about that, but their own "feeling" that a god exists isn't any more convincing to me. Anyone might "feel" that fish could talk, but that wouldn't mean it was so, nor would that be a very reliable way to know it was true even if it was. People s .....

God Changes Throughout The First Books Of The Old Testament
.... them not to eat of the tree, or they will surely die. However, Eve eats of the tree, as does Adam second, yet they do not perish. The serpent told Adam and Eve that the fruit would make them God-like, and that was God’’s reason for his command (Genesis 3:4-3:7). God becomes enraged at the serpent, Adam and Eve as well. God is upset because he has been revealed. He tried to convince Adam and Eve that the tree was poison. However, the tree can be seen as the source of his power, and if they consumed the fruit they would be Gods also. God does not want people to become godlike, hence they would be immortal and he would loose his cont .....

Violence In Religions Such As Islam, Christianity, And Hinduism
.... originated over a thousand years ago, when Islamic peoples first threatened the western world. As they slowly undermined Byzantine authority, Christians became terrified of their presence, resulting in widespread animosity and aversion. Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, was a great warrior. This invariably lead defeated peoples to believe that he begot a cult of war and violence. Over the centuries, it also has developed the ability to instill a sense of holy purpose onto its believers and soldiers, where they go into a battle of certain death for their faith in the jihad, or holy war. Even today, the jihad is still a poten .....

Christians: Criminals Or Not?
.... tortured them to get them to admit to the crimes , only to find that they are an harmless group . I discovered nothing more than an innocuous superstition . Christians faced persecution with courage, a very large percentage with heroism, but they did not submit to it without opposition. They defended themselves with great strength by confuting the accusations of those crimes as being false and groundless and by producing the contents of their faith ( What they believed in ) and describing their identity (What they were and what they stood for) . I was surprisingly impressed by their unfaltering conviction and the passion they s .....

Judaism And Christianity
.... Baptism was important for both religions because people are purified from orignal sin. Easter, which is a resurrection of Christ, christmas and eucharist, which means a ritual meal of bread and wine distributed among the members, are the rituals in Christianity. On the other hand, Judaism has circumcision and passover, a holiday related to taken out of bondage as a ceremony.
