Music And Its Effect On People
.... words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.
And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music

Woodstock
.... prominent local dairy farmer, Max Yasgur, who owned land about 48 miles from Woodstock.
Early in the week before the festival, it became clear that the event was going to draw a much larger audience than expected. People from as far away as Michigan and California came to listen to the 24 rock groups ("Age, 1"). Thousands more people would have come if police had not blocked off access roads. By the day before the official opening, traffic jams miles long blocked most roads leading to the area. The intense traffic on Route 17B towards Bethel, New York that afternoon didn't seem to bother anyone as people all exchange .....

Canadian Music Artists And Their Impact
.... history as the best-selling Canadian rap record. Maestro is proud to be Canadian. He shows this in one of his releases. The record was called "Naah Dis Kid Can't Be From Canada?!!!" Nothing seemed to discourage, Maestro, not even the fact that Canadian radio has grown more conservative over the years. Maestro is a prime example of an artist who has been overlooked by a business that has been geared towards recognizing artists from L.A or New York. Back in 1990, when he was known as Maestro Fresh-Wes, his Symphony in Effect sold over 170,00 copies. Today, Maestro has a new look with the release of his latest album selling w .....

The Tupac Conspiracy
.... new album was released under the name "Makaveli . second video to be released by the name Makaveli is "To Live and Die in L.A." But how could they shoot the second video when he is "dead". Do you really think the video was shot 4 months ago, back in August of '96? Think about it in. the video "Hail Mary" released under the name Makaveli, there is a gravestone that says Makaveli. But the gravestone is cracked and there is a hole right in front of it, inferring that Makaveli rose from the dead.
In interviews prior to the shooting, Tupac talked about how he wanted to stop rapping and being a gangsta and get out of the limelight. .....

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
.... Versailles, and in London (where Wolfgang wrote his first symphonies and was befriended by Johann Christian Bach, whose musical influence on Wolfgang was profound). In Paris, Wolfgang published his first works, four sonatas for clavier with accompanying violin (1764). In 1768 he composed his first opera, La Finta Semplice, for Vienna, but intrigues prevented its performance, and it was first presented a year later at Salzburg. In 1769-70, Leopold and Wolfgang undertook a tour through Italy, where, in Rome, Wolfgang wrote down Allegri's Miserere from memory after one hearing. This first Italian trip culminated in Wolfgang's new oper .....

The History Of Greek Music
.... human behavior. Greek music was built up of a series of distinct modes, each with it's own name. According to the doctrine of ethos, each mode was so powerful that it gave music the ability to influence human actions in a precise way. The Phrygian mode expressed passionate and intimate emotions, where as the Dorian mode produced forceful, rigid feelings.
In later Greek history the doctrine of ethos was widely argued by the most philosophical of men. Plato and Aristotle both had broadly different views on the power and importance of music. The persocratic philosopher Pythagoras was even interested enough in music to develop the n .....

Reflections On The Bocelli Concert, April 15, 1999
.... seats. In fact, they were probably the best seats we could possibly have had because close-ups of the performers were projected onto three large screens during the entire concert.
The concert began with Overture to Norma, played by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Conductor Marcello Rota then stepped down to escort Bocelli, who had been blinded at the age of six, onto the stage. Bocelli appeared to be at home onstage; without touching anything he lined himself up dead center with the microphone each time he sang. Bocelli made singing look easy; he showed no signs of tension. He stood still, in a relaxed position, his hand .....

Music Therapy: Can It Help Anyone?
.... go to the Veteran's hospitals around the country to play for the thousands suffering from the emotional and the physical trauma of the wars. There were notable responses in many of the patients, which led the hospitals to hire musicians to play all the time. It was soon clear that the hospital musicians needed training before entering the facility and the demand grew for college curriculum. So in 1944 Michigan State University set up the first music therapy degree program in the country.
The thing about music therapy that people have to be careful with is that you need specific kinds of music to get different desired .....

Metallica
.... I recall, was trying to yank the blanket out from under him to use for other people. I just went ‘Don’t fucking do that!’ I already wanted to kill the guy. I don’t know if he was drunk or if he hit some ice. All I knew was he was driving and Cliff wasn’t alive anymore." James Hetfeild 1993. That night in a hotel James broke two windows on a rampage.
Metallica had many other gigs to do and many fans to please, so on October 28, 1986 they had an audition for a bass player. Jason learned every Metallica song in a matter of two days. When he went to the audition and James asked him what song he wanted to play, Jason re .....

Who Are You?: Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder
.... baritone. The applause is scattered. "Well," Vedder mumbles, "you're about to hear it again." With that, Pearl Jam edge into "Sometimes," the fragile ballad that opens No Code. "Seek my part," Vedder sings, pushing out the lyrics in a pained rasp. "Devote myself/My small self/Like a book amongst the many on a shelf."
The muted start seems to confuse the audience of mosh-minded twentysomethings, who are pumped for some of Vedder's girder-climbing theatrics. The fans are out of luck. Even when the band members kick into "Hail, Hail" -- the closest song to a classic Pearl Jam arena anthem on No Code -- they seem determined to th .....

People Are Still Trading Crime For Crime
.... you
might not be justice to me.3
This is a clear example of DiFranco addressing the listener. One is almost forced to contemplate over such a line. DiFranco wants you to think about what justice means to you. So you soon realize that listening to the song just is not enough.
DiFranco wouldn't be DiFranco if she stopped here. She is someone who takes her listener a step further;
You might be the wrong color
you might be too poor
justice isn't something anyone can afford. 4
She does so by specifically raising the question if death penalty is indeed necessary and how that would coincide with the previously m .....

My Trip To Woodstock
.... complaining about the heat and anticipating the next few days.
Random acts of kindness surrounded us for the whole weekend. I saw a boy climb through the mud to get someone he had just met a bottle of water. As the sun went down, a man gave a woman his sweatshirt so she would not be cold- again, they had just met. Conversations were exchanged between people that had nothing in common, other than the fact that they were at the same concert. I saw this going on all around me and I was fully appreciative of it- I just wish that everyone was saw the beauty in these simple human actions.
I was not present for the fires or t .....
