The Boston Massacre
.... into something big. The
British soldiers were accused of Murder and manslaughter. To represent them
was John Adams, a relative of Samuel Adams. Adams wanted the trial to get
over and didn't want the truth to come out. The Boston Massacre and
misleading visual representation by Paul Revere could have been one cause
of a later war.
The Boston Massacre increased the hatred between the Americans and
the British. The radical people tried to use this minor event as propaganda.
Paul Revere and Samuel Adams were happy the few colonists died because they
used it as propaganda so the colonist would get mad at the British.

Revolutionary Council, the government in exile, in New York City released a
statement saying that the bombings in Cuba were ". . . carried out by
'Cubans inside Cuba' who were 'in contact with' the top command of the
Revolutionary Council . . . ." The New York Times reporter covering the
story alluded to something being wrong with the whole situation when he
wondered how the council knew the pilots were coming if the pilots had
only decided to leave Cuba on Thursday after " . . . a suspected betrayal
by a fellow pilot had precipitated a plot to strike . . . ." Whatever the
case, the planes came down in Miami later that mo .....

American Exceptionalism
.... stemming from centuries of writings that convey more of
an overtone than a tangible explication. Yet, Lipset has no trouble
asserting that American exceptionalism takes the form of "liberty,
egalitarianism, individualism, populism, and laissez-faire," all
characteristics of Americans, from the revolutionary period to modern times.
Thomas Massaro, a -reviewer of Lipset's obviously controversial book
American Exceptionalism: A Double-Edged Sword, paraphrases Lipset simply:
"The United States is different from other countries because it is founded
upon a national creed rather than upon the social bonds of ethnicity and
history th .....

"Speak And You Shall Be Heard"
.... King Jr. came across as a kind human being,
not a person full of anger and violence. In speaking to one another we
should have the same tone in speaking as Martin Luther King Jr. in order to
be heard.
We should watch that we do not offend someone when speaking. We
sometimes do not realize our tones of our spoken word can hurt someone's
feelings. But this does not happen all the time. A person can take the
information as being helpfull and a good word of advice. It is up to the
individual how they will take the tone of a conversation as being helpful
or harmful.
On the other hand the spoken word can be very dramatic. .....

The Spanish American War And Its Causes
.... He didn't want to look like a coward to the American
people. He was also afraid that resisting war would cost Republicans
control of Congress in the fall elections.
The battle for the Philippines was very important to the war. This
is where Spain's fleet was. The US took it out. This was very important
because now, Spain only had its land crew. This was one of the factors that
ended the war.
The US military was far too small. However, there were many
voluntary groups that were able to go to war for their country. One of
which was led be Teddy Roosevelt was the Rough Riders. They were a
voluntary Calvary unit that had no skills. .....

The Manhattan Project
.... isotope (U-238) could be used. They learned that each
fission releases a few neutrons. A chain reaction, therefore, was
theoretically possible, if not too many neutrons escaped from the mass or
were captured by impurities.
In 1942 General Leslie Groves was chosen to lead the project, and he
immediately purchased a site at Oak Ridge, Tennessee for facilities to
separate the necessary uranium-235 from the much more common uranium-238.
He also appointed theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer as director
of the weapons laboratory, who ordered the construction of the headquarters
on an isolated mesa at Los Alamos, New Mexico.

How The Women's Movement Has Improved
.... do also. The war gave an
opportunity, a chance for women to show off their knowledge, abilities and
capabilities. Quite ironic, the jobs women obtained were partly forced
into voluntarily jobs. Some of the women wanted to prove themselves
capable of doing a “man” job, while others were indirectly forced into it
because they had no male to support their family financially.
During the 1940's sexual discrimination of female workers were
temporarily put aside. “The massive production requirements of World War
II created new demands for additional female workers. Suddenly it was
patriotic and appropriate for women to work.” (Van .....

publishers, William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer, printed outlandish
stories of the Spanish oppression in Cuba. They included wildly exaggerated

pressure Spain into granting Cuba limited self-government. Under the
disguise of a "courtesy call," the United States Navy battleship ‘
Maine',was sent to Havana in January, 1889, to protect US citizens and
interests in Cuba.
