Beowulf: An Anglo-Saxon Epic Hero
.... a beastly monster. Beowulf not only
kills Grendel but rips the beasts arm off and brings it to his mother. His
men admire Beowulf’s skills and courage. Also, when Beowulf is fighting
Grendel's mother, who is seeking revenge on her son's death, he is able to
end her life by slashing the monster's neck with a sword. The sword
belongs to a Giant and can only be lifted by a person as strong as Beowulf.
When he chops off her head, he carries the heavy head all the way to
Hrothgar to show him he has been victorious once again. Hrothgar and all
the other men witness this and their view of Beowulf becomes once again
mighty and p .....

A Voice Of The Future
.... bad when children aren’t fortunate enough to be praised for
their actions in their own home but they can’t even get it at school
anymore. I was recently in a pageant and one of the questions asked was, “
How will your generation be remembered?” According to society we are
trouble makers. We are categorized as once again, Alcoholics, druggy’s, and
a threat as far as pregnancies are concerned. I would like to say that we
are the key to tomorrow’s technology. With the knowledge we have we can do
anything. We can do things that were never possible before, we have ideas
most people wouldn’t imagine. Why can’t we be remembe .....

Freedom Of Speech?
.... Domestic violence, a serious problem in today’s
society, is often initiated by “fighting words” - words that are so
insulting which would cause immediate violence.
The Bible says, “Do not accuse a man for no reason-when he has done
you no harm” for “God hates slanderers.” False statements that are made
to accuse another person cannot be tolerated. A recent study suggests
that a slandered person may suffer from injury of reputation, loss of
properties, mental disorder, and, in some cases, death.
The misuse of language can cause tremendous harm to the society.
In order to preserve peace to the nation, the Supreme Court has .....

A Utopian Society
.... rich, and know all of the power they hold.
Teaching children while they are young is the key to a successful
utopian society. This is why isolation is needed. If a Utopian society is
started in the middle of England, children would have too much influence
from surrounding territories. An island would be the only way to maintain
a Utopian society, when it comes to children, for they are their future.
Children are not the only ones that would need their ideas protected. On
an island, they can see any foreign ship that is coming their way. Then,
the proper officials can greet these newcomers, not citizens, and see if
they are .....

Empowerment
.... the person experiencing the difficulty. The social
conditions which have contributed to this situation are ignored or
minimized. Prevention programs have also been normatively driven, even
though the rhetoric of prevention models claims an interest in cultural
appropriateness, the appreciation of differences, and ecological influences.
Empowerment has been suggested as an alternative practice paradigm to the
older prevention oriented practice models. Family theorists involved in
clarification of this concept have come up with the following definition:
"an intentional, ongoing process centered in the local community, involving

The Accuracy Of News Reports
.... news that day but it
did sell newspapers. You may think that this is wrong but if The Daily
News doesnt sell newspapers they dont last. Thats the reality of the
world and we must accept it.
The whole story is never fully told sometimes because the
broadcasters havent received the information. There was no way that the
media couldve seen through the eyes of the shooters. They were still in
the school while the reporters were giving their story. We as an audience
naturally takes sides when hearing a story. During the Amadu Diablo
shooting the media reported from the side of Diablos family. The storys on
the news was intended .....

The Common Theme Of Value Of Friendship In Literature
.... A childhood friend of Robin, Maid
Marion places her friendship with Robin Hood above loyalty to the crown.
She has numerous opportunities to betray Robin Hood, but she does not. She
sees the good he is doing for the land and the lone resistance he and his
band of Merry Men provide against the evil Sheriff. Had she been loyal to
her country, Robin Hood would have never been successful against the
Sheriff of Nottingham and the citizens of her kingdom would have had to
endure even greater injustices.
Sharing many of the same principles Robin Hood embodies is Alexandre
Dumas's The Three Musketeers. The famous trio of noblemen battle .....

An Understanding Of Coles’s Essay Through Susan Bordo’s Terms
.... for
food products. One example is on page 151 where we see a young woman
sitting on a stool eating Jello. She has a slim figure and in the ad it
states, “I’m a girl who just can’t say no. I insist on dessert.” This
says to the consumer that you can eat all the Jello you want and still
remain beautiful, slender, and able to resist the overpowering urge to
overindulge in dessert. Personally I would believe and agree more with the
Dexatrim commercial, not the Jello ad, because it “constructs the more
realistic representation of women’s subjective relations with food.” The
commercial “shows a woman, her appetite-suppressant wor .....

The Ideals Of Knighthood In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
.... to have his attributes put to the test. This is done in the description of the shield that Gawain arms himself with to undertake his journey to the Green Chapel. The shield is adorned "with pentangle portrayed in purest gold.” This pentangle represents Gawain’s "faith in the five wounds of Christ and the five joys of the Virgin, and his possession of the five knightly virtues..." This display of Gawain’s purity reinforces his worthiness to undergo the test of his chivalry.
Honor is another virtue that a knight must possess. Gawain gives his word while accepting the beheading challenge that he will meet the Green Knight at the G .....

About Open-Minded People
.... but not those who are open-minded and are able to evaluate the danger fast. They will listen to the others' opinions, evaluate and analyze them, choose the best one, and get out from the situation thinking logically. For instance if the fire starts in a huge multi-store house they will not jump from the window risking to hurt themselves. Instead of that they will get out from the building trying to find an accessible way usually the way trough that the fresh air is coming. The fresh air way can be easily identified in some cases in the opposite direction of the way the smoke is going.
Common sense and kindness also define o .....

Odysseus And His Adventures
.... Aeolus, another paradise-like island where everyone lives well and luxuriously. Aeolus was extremely kind to Odysseus and his men, entertaining them for a month, then giving them a gift to cherish: a bag in which he had captured all of the winds, guaranteeing that Odysseus and his men would have a quick, safe journey home. When Odysseus and his men were extremely close to Ithaca. Odysseus believed themselves out of danger and took a nap His men, jealous of his fame and wealth, and suspicious that Aeolus had given him yet more treasure in the sack of wind, opened the bag. This unleashed the winds that carrier them back to the Aeo .....

The Relationship Among Spirituality, Community, Simplicity, Joyfulness, And Service To Others
.... that is going to motivate another individual.
Gandhi was very simple and he was very joyful. During his lifetime everything he did was for his country. He wanted to set India free and that was all on his mind. He took lots of risk in helping others out. His lifestyle was very simple but joyful because he helped the poor people out. He believed in giving to others. Dass and Gorman were more of spirituality and community believers. They suggest that service is “an endless series of questions,” puzzling and insistent. They mention that community service is a curriculum. This curriculum helps us discover our own weaknesse .....
