Capitalism In America
.... no slave labor to take your livelihood, you could "make something of yourself," and become a capitalist or, at least, an independent producer, professional or artist. Americans in the North at that time were influenced by this capitalist "work-ethic" to under-estimate the energy of the South. They thought (as the capitalist "work-ethic" would lead them to believe) that the poverty and economic decline of the South were probably due to laziness and that this indicated that the North should be able to easily defeat the South. But the Civil War proved that Southerners were not "lazy;" it was the slave system (lacking science and in .....

Business Leadership
.... are (Gardner):
Aiming High
Involving Others
Challenge the Status Quo
Lead by Example
Aim High:
A vision, by definition, is an ideal. In developing a vision, consider all the strengths of the company: the people, products, services, technologies, reputation, strategies and resources that constitute its greatest assets.
Involve Others:
While searching and developing the company’s vision, take full advantage of the knowledge, insights and creativity of others; involving them in the visioning process will go a long way towards ensuring their future commitment.
Challenge the Status Quo:
In the process .....

Monopolies - A Case Study
.... have cooked deeper into the matter and "unveiled" the economic character of imperialism and it's apparent contradictions (this will be dealt with later, as well as an overview of the historic contradictions, economic intricacies and ethical realities of imperialism. It should also be stated, that the term monopoly, "monopolization" will be dealt with from the left-wing point of view, as "imperialism").
The two prevalent schools of economic thought, the left wing (socialist) and the right wing (libertarian, "laissez fare" capitalists ...), have entirely different view on the matter of monopolization of capital.
While the .....

Site Based Management
.... to better educate students and improve school performance. School-based management (SBM) offers a way to promote improvement by decentralizing control from central district offices to individual school sites. It attempts to give school constituents--administrators, teachers, parents and other community members--more control over what happens in schools.”
In summing up comments from different sources, I have the following observations regarding site- based management:
Site-based or school-based management shifts decision making authority from the central office to the local schools and communities;
Its’ core is the idea o .....

The Economic Growth Of Asia
.... were great variations in income between different villages, and between different jobs in the urban sector, the overall averages showed a clear pattern: the cities were much richer than the countryside. Most capital investments were going into urban industries. The urban workers, using considerable amount of heavy machinery, had a much higher average level of productivity compared to the rural workers. The natural consequences was for the city people to arrange themselves an average income level twice as high as that of the people in the countryside.
The most obvious way to attack this poverty problem was to increase p .....

The European Monetary Union
.... known as the European System of Central Banks); the various qualifications for joining the Union; the differing opinions about the currency integration; and to top it all off, included is an outline of the draft designs for the new Euro banknotes.
To begin our journey on the road to the EMU, we begin with a brief review of the history leading up to its establishment. In June 1998, the European Council (EC) established a mission of realizing an economic union and commissioned a committee chaired by Jacques Delors, the then President of the European Commission, to study and propose a specific plan leading to this union. .....

MBTI Summary Report
.... that shows in getting a 41 on that section. The rest of the areas were a little shady, and it seems as if they could have gone either way. So I am not too sure about the rest of my characteristics, except for the extraversion.
Being a marketing major I think that my personality traits will suit me very well for my occupation. My freshman year I had my heart set on being an accounting major, and I took a class in accounting, and did not do too well in it. Accounting was just boring to me. Then my sophomore year I took a marketing class and got an A in it, and knew from then that I wanted to be a marketing major. That wa .....

Employee Empowerment
.... this process of growing trust.
Informing
Effective communication is an essential condition for managing change and supporting an empowered culture. People who are 'in the know' tend to feel more strongly committed to the organization's goals. In almost any company or pubic body you will find that employees complain about lack of information. They never seem to get enough. Yet, providing this information in an attractive manner to maintain interest is not that easy. Managers need discipline to maintain the information flow.
Consulting
In an empowered organization, the opinions of every person matter: every .....

3. Corporations are spending the money of their stockholders without their permission.
4. A manager is responsible only to his employers and not the community.
All of the above may sound bad, but the intentions behind them are not entirely falsified.
It would be selfish of us to assume that a corporation would spend a considerable amount of their funds (profits/returns) on their community without expecting some kind of a positive feedback of any form. We as individuals should not expect anything in return when we help someone because it is not the right thing to do. The case .....

For example, it has been porved by Friends of the Earth and the National Taxpayers Untion Foundation that 34 corporate subsidies were "both wastedful and environmentally destructive." In most of the western United States, corporated welfare leads to dead earth.
The federal government is looking in other areas to cut the budget instead of corporate welfare. It is estimated that the government could save around $500 billion in corporate welfare spending alone over .....

The Wage Gap
.... higher salary, they must earn a higher education first.
Women in the workplace today generally are likely to stay with their job because they like to have security in their career. Most women tend to stay with a job because they either enjoy and are satisfied with what they are doing or they have a family to take care of and cannot afford to put in the extra time and effort into a job with more responsibilities. However, men are more likely to change jobs in search of better pay. With the changing of their jobs brings more experience. The more experienced employee should be entitled to a higher salary than that of a less expe .....

The US Monetary Policy
.... seven members, each appointed for 14 years by the President of the United States. The chair of the Fed, also appointed by the President, has a term of 4 years, and is sometimes said to be the second most powerful man in the country. The Fed is an inde-pendent agency, and thus does not take orders from either the President or Congress.
The US is divided into 12 Federal Reserve districts, each having its own Federal Reserve bank. (These districts can also be seen in the Appendix.) The district banks are like branch offices of the Fed, carrying out the rules, regulations, and functions of the Fed. The banks report to the Boar .....
