Paralells In My Brilliant Career
.... get it. We also find out that love is very important to
her. for example she has a man that is courting her and is a womans dream. He
is handsome and rich, also has a good family name. In fact her grandmother who
is very important person in her life tells her that she should accept his love.
Instead she rejects it, and tells her grandmother that she does not love Frank.
From this point we find out she is a feminist with very strong views. She has a
need to feel independent and feels that women don't need men for anything at all.
Then she meets Harry and to her surprise falls in love with him. She
does not act on this love .....

"Planet Of The Apes"
.... Another reason I am disputing Mr. Burrough's opinion of this movie is its
strong message concerning how humans were treated by apes. When we watched
"Planet of the Apes," we cannot fail to notice the mutes are treated. They were
beaten, battered and bruised; they were attacked and assaulted; worst of all,
they were degraded, disgraced and caged like animals. This is not how humans or
animals should be treated. Animals should be revered and respected, for we are
all God's creatures.
Finally, I disagree with Mr. Burroughs because this movie made us think
about how we may be destined for self-destruction. "Planet o .....

Powder
.... a
unification of all humans, every single one, through some sort of single-
consciousness. The idea of using Powder as a role model can work, but the
audience has to view powder as being worthy. Here Powder views people, unwilling
to accept the idea of a single-consciousness solely on faith, as closed-minded.
This dogmatic type of view nullifies any worth powder might have had as a role
model, and it dooms any chance the message of the film, which supposedly
presents a different, better, and higher, view of things, ever had of
influencing people.
Besides the implied message, the film itself is just plain awful. With
cliché after .....

Power Of One
.... this ending is not realistic as Pk loses his greatest love(or
so they make us believe in the movie) dies and he does not care and continues
to fight the “bad guys”, not thinking about her ever again in the movie. Same
thing with his boxer friend, who just continues to live on like nothing ever
happened.
I already stated above what should have been done to make this a more
realistic ending. The boxer should have crushed psychologically and should have
dropped all activities against the governement. Same thing with Pk.
I have tried to explain what was wrong with this movie, while exposing my
train of thoughts on the plot .....

Pulp Fiction
.... opened the suitcase, he used the combination "666" to open the
suitcase, and when he opened it, the contents glowed a golden-orange color.
This was obviously an introductory attempt to show the audience that the
suitcase held Marcellus' soul. Perhaps Tarantino was trying to show that the
people that stole the suitcase were the devils pawns, and these two hitmen were
angels trying to retrieve stolen property.
After Vega and Winnfield had obtained their "treasure," Winnfield quoted
the Bible, specifically Ezekiel 25:17, the passage about destroying the evil
members of the society that try to harm others for no reason. Part .....

Romeo + Juliet: An E Ticket Ride
.... in the most famous love story in an entirely
new way. One can argue that this version of Romeo and Juliet would be
understood even without spoken words. The camera-work tells the story as
clearly as the text. There are very few moments in this movie when the camera
stops moving. Like Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers the editing is fierce
and in your face. There is little time to think as the perpetual images flash
across the screen. And it works. You become entranced and cannot wait to see
what happens next even if you are already familiar with the story. It feels new.
Like many contemporary Shakespeare productions .....

Seinfeld
.... the sitcom and the catalyst for almost everything that happens.
He is involved in the antics revolving around Kramer, George and Elaine. On one
episode George, Kramer and Jerry are spying on the naked lady across the street
all day to see who can win a bet. The twist at the end of the show is when we
see George and Jerry peering through the window and gasping, " Is that Kramer in
her apartment? Wow he is naked!" Another episode involves Jerry who is mistaken
for a Nazi leader arriving in town to speak at a meeting. He continues the
charade in order to secure a limousine ride home after the frustration of his
own ride not being t .....

Seinfeld
.... and there unique ideas. The
Honeymooners' ideas were very unique for their time. Like the episode when
Ralph had a fight with Alice. It was a ground breaking idea for the time,
having a couple arguing and yelling at each other. Seinfeld, whose ideas are
unique for its time, had its most famous episode dealing with a Soup Nazi. They
called him the Soup Nazi because he ran his soup stand with a Hitler type
dictatorship. I have never seen a sitcom deal with such a stupid issue, yet it
was nominated for an Emmy for the best scene in a sitcom. Another original idea
used in Seinfeld is that each character has their own pr .....

Movie Review: Sense And Sensibility
.... constantly going is the work
of the superb actors. The talent of the actors suited the roles they played,
and their mastering of the characters bring personality and feeling to the
screen. The story of the movie bases around two of these such characters who
happen to be undergoing the same feelings of love but in strikingly different
ways. Kate Winslet plays the wild, fatally romantic Marianne who cannot control
her feelings. Opposite her is the experienced Emma Thompson who plays the
reserved, intelligent Eleanor who is far more sensitive than she ever lets on.
These two sisters embark on a romantic adventure that finds .....

Man With The Movie Camera: Shot Change Constructs A New Perspective
.... so
viewers would again realize they were watching a movie, because too often people
take things for granted.
Other uses of time were implemented by Vertov to ensure the viewers
understood they were watching a movie. There were a multitude of different
sequences involved in this film.
One intriguing occurrence was how Vertov showed the movie goers going in
and out of movie houses. This was the first time in a movie that people were
actually seen going to and from these theaters. Vertov made sure he got in all
the features of daily life. He was not filming actors, what he was doing was
filming real lives and real aliv .....

Similarities Of Two Famous Tales Of Love
.... to help Tony and stop all the insanity around him like Friar Laurence.
In both stories, comic relief occurred to keep the audience interested,
but the two plays usually differed in their approaches to comedy. In Romeo And
Juliet, Mercutio amused the audience with his actions and soliloquies. Westside
Story didn't have a character like Mercutio, so it used a combination of their
dance and characters for comic relief. The Jets performed a humorous song that
mocked Officer Krumpke. Also, to enliven the audience, The Jets always picked
on Anybodys, a scruffy looking girl who always tried to get in the gang.

Six Hours Of Television
.... the tremendously popular FRIENDS, the SINGLE GUY,
the hits SEINFELD and CAROLINE IN THE CITY, and the most popular show this year,
ER. For the remaining hour I choose to look at THE TONIGHT SHOW, with Jay Leno.
Between these shows there are many similarities and many differences. All of
these shows can be directly compared with each other, having some of the same
qualities. Looking at these shows in the perspective of an anthropologist some
disquieting trends emerge. I will present the information as if an outsider,
from another nation, were watching American shows, and believed what he/she was
seeing to be true of what goes on .....
