Blood, Violence And Gore As Entertainment
.... the
launch of Wolfenstein in 1990. In «Wolfenstein» you are trapped in a maze among
an army of nazis. You'll have to kill your way out. This kind of violence
probably has a deeper influence on children, because they do the killings
themselves. It is interactive violence. In several countries the follow-up game,
Doom, was banned. The software company claimed that it didn't have a negative
affect on children, because they killed mutants, not humans. But is cutting up a
mutant with a chainsaw good entertainment?
There is no question about it, some children and adults suffer serious
damage from watching films and playing computer .....

Camila
.... had to wear this ribbon.
Through the execution of the bookseller, the tyranny of the Rosas regime is
clear. He will tolerate to questions to his authority or allow anyone with a
dissenting opinion to speak without fear of retribution. At the end of the film
when the two young lovers are captured, Rosas rears his head again. Wishing to
set an example to inspire terror into the masses, he doesn't hold Camilas
execution even with the knowledge that she is pregnant. To further illustrate
this point, the film makes it appear that Rosas is operating directly in
contrast with the blessings of god.
While never specific in histor .....

Can Media Inspire Violent Crimes?
.... Children's fictional entertainment programs had three times the
frequency of violent acts or threats recorded in adult programs. (Gunter,
p.13). many of these acts were committed without any compensation for the
action without responsibility, then it must be acceptable behavior. Similarly,
aggressive adults are seeking reinforcement for their own anti-social behavior
from seeing attractive television characters behave in the same way.
Behavioral evidence has indicated that the anti-social effects of violent
television portrayals are strongest and are most likely to occur among
individuals who are already ag .....

"Casablanca:" A New Perspective
.... without any dialogue, that the man signing
the check is Rick. This technique, however, is just the first of many used by
Curtiz.
The point-of-view shot is used by director Michael Curtiz to place the
audience directly into the action. By placing the camera at the exact location
and height of the character, the viewer of the film is 'inserted' into the
character's body, making the scene more personal. Curtiz uses a slight
variation of this type of camera placement when Capt. Renault and Rick are
having a discussion about Victor Laslo's arrival in Casablanca. The camera is
placed just above and aft of Renault's shoulder. The a .....

National Geographic: Mysteries Underground
.... while sliding and
finally hit some kind of stone wall or something. One lady was not careful
enough and boy did she pay. She was only a mile and a half or so in the cave
and she broke her leg. It took almost five days to get who to the surface of
the cave where she could be attended to. Also I found out that caves were much
larger then I had originally thought. The largest cave now, Mammoth Cave, is
over 200 miles long. And if you are exploring a cave being miles and miles from
the entrance it is very important that you be careful because if you break your
leg that far from the entrance it would probably take months to .....

.... control of a
small, struggling newspaper, and immediately begins using it to attack Thatcher
and others among America's financial elite. This displays the mystery with Kane
as he wants to expand on something small into something big, but we don't know
what.
The next account was given by Bernstein, Kane's devoted assistant. He
explains the beginnings as a newspaper czar and his takeover of the New York
Enquirer, in which he fired its editor, hired an expensive, top-notch staff, and
enlisted his college friend Jedediah Leland as the drama critic. Kane is at
first a crusader for the understanding, opening his first editorial .....

Children And Television
.... cartoon
character that may harm children is Yosimite Sam. When he becomes angry, he
begins to fire his pair of guns into the air and at other characters. This
could cause children to act violently to appease their anger. This includes
hitting and throwing things. This is an extreme view of the situation, but who
is to say that at least part of it is not true?
Children see violence everyday in their cartoons, but what about shows
that they watch in which people star. These shows will more than likely cause
more violence than cartoons would. While watching a show such as "Mighty
Morphin Power Rangers" a child sees almost .....

Children, TV, And Violence
.... with violence as the answer.
When children watch these programs they copy the actions and "morals" of these
shows depicting "good" and "evil". Children do not know what "good" is or what
"evil" is, how can they? This world is not broken into "good" and "evil".
"Evil" to children is what opposes them, what does not agree with them, or any
other person or thing that poses a possible difficulty. Children must be taught
that there are differences in this world. This world is filled with many people
holding different beliefs, ideas, and morals. That is what makes this world
so unique and colorful. Children need to learn to r .....

Film Review: Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
.... and at other times becomes utterly insane. Melinda Barro
also puts in an extremely believable performance as Dreyfuss's side-kick in
search of her abducted son. But perhaps the most hidden success of this movie
is the very underrated actress Teri Garr, who put in her two cents as Dreyfuss's
wife. Garr did play a small role, yet it was effective, it produced a gauge of
just how crazy Dreyfuss was really getting. The wonderful acting carried the
film over the obvious special effects that Spielberg uses.
This film was pretty much original for it's time, but once you see the
special effects, you are instantly reminded of films li .....

student who is studying here at the University".
Prince Ahkeim learns that there are many things that go on in America
that are different from his world. He seems to be amused that people dump
trash on the streets and greet each other by shouting curse words at each other.
The apartment that he moves into is almost a complete opposite of the palace
he left. Rats and roaches crawl around the floor as if they owned the building.
This doesn't seem to bother the Prince even though he is used to petal girls
throwing rose petals to cover the floo .....
