Equus Act One 1. Alan Strang embraces a horse called "Nugget". Martin Dysart, a psychiatrist, describes what he sees Alan and Nugget doing. Alan and Nugget disappear and Dysart addresses the audience, telling them about him and that he's partly feeling being a horse. Then he commences to tell a story. 2. Dysart is working on his desk, when Hesther, a magistrate, enters and asks Dysart to take Alan as a patient, because she doesn't want to be send to prison.
