 	Zane Grey has come to be known as "The Father of Western".  He was
the first ever to give the myth of the rugged American Cowboy to American
Literature.  Although some have called Grey a "hack writer" no one can
argue that his sixty-odd novels won him great popularity from the 1920's
through present time (Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism 175).  It is
often said that Grey's works appeal to the average blue jeaned man who
