Animal Farm is an anti-Utopian novel written by George Orwell
shortly after the time of Joseph Stalin’s rule over Russia. It was written
several years before Penguin Putnam published it in 1946. George Orwell,
formerly known as Eric Blair, was an Englishman who frequently opposed
communism. This book was written to blatantly denounce communism and to “
wake up” the Russian people. The book is 149 pages long and has no
pictures.
This tragic story takes place on a poor farm in England. The animal’
s owner, Mr. Jones, was a drunkard and didn’t care about the welfare of
