Through his presentation of hubris, error in judgment, and realization of downfall, Creon posses the majority of characteristics necessary in being a central tragic figure. One may suspect Antigone represents the tragic figure because the play is, in fact, named after her. She also presents the reader with many qualities a tragic figure holds and compels us to believe she is the best suited for the position.
