The upstairs apartment I rented was one of four apartments in an old house that had been converted. It smelled of bok choy and beer from the various tenants, and for a mere one hundred and seventy five dollars a month including bills I had two hundred and fifty square feet comprised of a bathroom, kitchenette and a main room.
