The first sign of gold was in the Ralson Creek area with around one hundred men panning for gold. Many of these miners only made twenty-five cents a day. Most of these people didn't strike it rich so they went back home. The left over gold hunters moved to Denver and panned the South Platte making up to ten dollars a day.
